Default Wireless Printer - Multiple computers wanting to print.

    Brother MFC-9130CW Wireless Printer

Connected to Asus RT-AC3100 Wireless Router.

Currently assigning an IP based on the MAC (in the Asus) address so that I can map the same printer port in each separate computer for access.

However access is spotty and I can't access the printer web page using any browser.

Any suggestions for a better way to implement this ?

    Thanks.

Plug it in. Configure the most reliable always-on computer to connect to it, then share it from that computer.

Configure the printer to use a static IP. Shouldn't have any issues and if you do either it's the network or a configuration issue on the devices.

I have the same printer. It’s wireless only. Get good WiFi haha. I’ve had zero problems with mine.

I have a brother mfc printer connected wirelessly. Works fine for all the devices on my network. No fancy manual configuration either. What did you do to yours?

Dont assign a static IP in the router - assign it in the printer directly (web console).

Reboot both the router and printer weekly.

Try avoid non-numeric or alphabets in the SSID or PSK. Some wifi printers get quirky with this.

Make sure (printer webconsole again) that you enable ALL the protocols/features - not everything is on by default for whatever reason.

DO NOT let Windows 10 assign a printer - go to Brother support and DL the full featured driver directly on each machine and install and THEN configure the printer port properties to print DIRECT to the IP.

    Check for latest firmware.

If that doesent help, you will have to go all PC LOAD LETTER on that unit.

I had this printer for years before upgrading - it was definitely quirky (5 PC household) - but worked for years once it was setup right (trial and error on my part).

Thanks. Everything seemed to work flawlessly until a few months back when I enabled wireless on my shaw modem to connect some blue curve devices.

Shouldn't be any different than a neighbor having a different wireless network though...

Shaw modems for anything other than a modem are useless and shit. You should be setting it to bridged and use your own if you can.

So its a ISP wifi that you turned back on, to connect a different group of devices to the modem? What happens if you turn it off again?

Even then they fail to work, on a regular basis.
