Receiving income during an EI period needs to be reported. You're allowed to make some money while on EI, half of it gets deducted from your EI provided contribution.

I would encourage you to call EI and be certain since my answer is likely to be unpopular.
Even if it was reported on ROE? They just combined the last pay cheque as well as bonus on the same line as insurable earnings. I've tried calling EI for the last two weeks for an issue with my girlfriends, and getting through is pretty much impossible.

I was under the assumption that it is any income earned during that period ie. worked during that period. I did not work during that period at all.

I sympathize trying to call in with everything being such a shitshow and navigating the government site is equally painful. That said: https://www.canada.ca/en/services/be...rnings.html#we

Just got my $2K deposit this morning.

Some co-workers who were laid off same time, are reporting they got the $2K + $1K (no idea what this deposit was for)

**talking to some friends, and they are reporting getting $4k deposit. Showing $2K for EI and $2k for CERB. Your not supposed to be getting both. What a gong show hahah**

And upon closer reading, looks like you have to re-apply for the CERB every 4 week period to get it. Just an FYI to allName: cerb.jpg

Now the annoying part is there MIGHT be SOME work later this month for me and a couple guys at the office haha... so might not apply for anything...

I think being in limbo might be the worst case scenario haha.

Expected since 2 different programs. CRA should craw it back when you file 2019 taxes.

    Thanks for that article @dj_rice

A year from now, there's going to be a 16:9 expose about people bitching at CRA about this

It's so straightforward though and we'll get to see who really are parasites.

Wife is off of mat leave and hasn’t been able to find a job. EI for mat leave qualifies so I guess she’s applying.

Looks like the opposition is forcing a sitting of parliament to go over CEWS and to address the obvious cracks in the CERB program that many in this thread would fall through. ie: the requirement of losing ALL of your income to qualify and even working 20 hours/week would disqualify someone.

Parliament sits tomorrow so hopefully they can fill the gaps in CERB and get the CEWS passed. My employer is planning on doing the CEWS so I decided not to apply for CERB. Unless the situation changes.

I am still employed (knock on wood and thank the FSM etc.) but a buddy of mine asked me, and I couldn't answer, so here goes. If you have the CERB, and then go on EI, is there a waiting period for EI like there would normally be where they calculate whatever your final payout (severance, accrued vacation etc) and convert that to a number of weeks? Or is that waiting period satisfied by the CERB time?

Good question. I'm curious as well too. I applied for EI but they converted me to the CERB. When I login to the MyServiceCanada acount, it says my claim is processed under the CERB but theres also a Bi-Weekly Report area, where its asking me to send my report from the Mar 22 period. But from what I gather online on the CERB side, after you apply, you don't have to send any Bi-Weekly earnings report? So is it safe to assume, only on EI your sending this bi-weekly report?

EI waiting period was waived so I would think it’s still waived. Especially when they’re auto converting EI claims to CERB... the real question is will they retro the difference in payments if your EI entitlement is higher? I’m going with doubtful

No they won't, they've been very upfront that despite being entitled to the max. EI, you are limited to $2000/month. If your EI entitlement is less than the $2000/month, you're getting a "boost" with CERB and not expected to pay more later.

CRA has expanded the "snitch line" to now accept complaints about CERB/CEWS/CESB abuse:
