I did this back in December and it has been wonderfully freeing.

Doing terrible. 2021 10x worse so far than 2020. Don’t trust anything anymore, media, government, anyone who is on the tv with their latest batch of “recommendations” and what I need/should be doing. It’s messed up, constantly moving the goalposts.

Work has been up and down. Mostly down for the most part. More and more, money means fuck all to me (may be a good thing tho) Some small good was some investments paid off, but that sure didn’t change my mood or outlook. Our activity levels are horribly down, wife has gained about 40 fucking pounds since this all started, so that kinda sucks. Haven’t seen much of my family. Many live in the states. Had a Aunt pass away very unexpectedly, healthy and so active, died in her sleep about 7 hrs after getting her jab which she was so happy to receive. There’s been a few more family deaths (not Covid related) that were made more difficult because we couldn’t see the person or attend funeral services. Hope for a normal life moving forward is fading for me fast. Just not sure vaccines are what’s going to do it, and sad to see so many people putting so much faith in that. I’m a pessimist at this point thinking no matter what we do society is coming completely undone. Just seems no there’s so much more than just C19 that’s messing up the world.

Sorry guys/gals for being such a downer....

Don't be sorry for expressing how you feel. Things can add up and it can get overwhelming fast.

Correct, Money brings us into this cycle of bullshit and just realizing this I think is a huge step forward, but it's obviously not easy to do.

Money is just a value that we give it.

As pessimist as I am on the economy, I'm actually optomistic on the future of the economy.

I think the most important thing for ANYONE to do right now is to remove Political parties and race and just forget about it, don't judge people, you will be much happier.

With that said if someone tries to argue with you just say both sides are problems and we need to be united, I don't think anyone would really disagree right now, it's not politics that will bring everyone together but it will continue to divide us.

On the optomistic side of things, we have been getting hurt so badly by the USD for the last 50 years, it might be changing very soon, and people are going to be given another chance.

We need to realize we need to work together to change the system in the future and we need to start to do it together.

Find optomisium in knowing you can see a positive outlook if we start to work together and it will hopefully make you happier trying to help people on both sides.

It's just another big cycle right now, and this is the MOST important thing we could do right now IMO.

Because of this, you're not the only one that feels like this, but you understand it, and time to find a purpose with hope you can help others see this as well, we are being divided for a reason.

EDIT: I realized it can't be forced on people, they need to see it by themselves, but having other question wtf the meaning of our purpose here is is a very good start. people are going to have to make the final decision themselves though

I went on better help and connected with a therapist. It’s pretty affordable at $400/month. I can text him anytime and he also checks in every few days, journaling and I speak to him on the phone for an hour every week. Really good stuff.

On a mega vacation in a place with something like zero recorded cases in >9 months and for some reason fully 30% of people wear masks everywhere.
Hearing "gotta keep the island safe" is indistinguishable from "it's got electrolytes".
I drink beer and go to a hilarious variety of beaches every day. It's a fucking paradise (something near 40° today) and we've been needing this for a painfully long time. Shoulders dropping. Fucks given almost down to zero.

For me some of my mental health issues come from the constant barrage of people talking and saying shit about those who haven't gotten the vaccine. I have found I need to separate myself from conversations and people to not get dragged into the bullshit.

Other things for me is trying to keep myself busy with work stuff as my workload in the last year has decreased by over 80% but they still need a person in my position due to office size and location.

And finally the biggest thing that keeps my mental going being on edge is how my work environment is handling covid and what their plans are for the next few weeks. Its gotten to a point where it feels they care less about people and more about ensuring the office is up and running.

I understand this is all corporate shit and that is fine, but when we have 3 other offices in Canada and all their locations are seeing a rise in cases and Calgary is the only office looking to have a rto by the end of the month it stresses me out.

A lot better than my prior posts in this thread. Thanks for asking.

I finally found the right fit for employment and I'm killing it. So nice to feel productive again, and although I burned through 22g in savings keeping myself alive, it's also nice to be making money again as well.

But good lord. I inherited an entire team of women. And the bitching and conflicts are borderline overwhelming.

Move to bc for decent work... Definitely put me into a mental health improvement.

Amazing what getting back to work after a ridiculously long break will do

Too true brother. I've tested out many versions of this, and a bad job is bad, but long term unemployment was harder for me.

I microdose Psilocybin every few months. No heros journey or anything, just enough to induce a light "fizziness", and the effect is pretty subtle, but I really do feel that it helps me. That and talking about it. I have had some really good mental health discussions with my kids. I tell em when I'm having a bad day, I ask for help when that's happening, and they are pretty empathetic. Normalize the idea that mental health is a part of "real" health in your discussions with others, and you'll normalize that for yourself at the same time.

I have a couple friends in this kind of spiralling situation and I think it's draining them pretty hard. It's kind of weird for me as well because they're super down most of the time and I feel like our conversations are like an emo party. But at the same time I want to be respectful about it all and basically be a shoulder and try to understand it better without being "that guy" who is trying to give solutions and make it look like it's not so bad. My thoughts are is that unfortunately life dealt them kind of a bad hand and it may not have provided them the ideal scenario at this stage in their life. So things like the stretched out pandemic just add onto the already stressful situation. And when they see their friends and the world progress, they get super depressed and very unmotivated to do anything. It also doesn't help that they don't really have a huge drive in life to begin with. At this point, days keep getting more unmotivating for them and I'm kind of getting worried.

I am doing a lot better and have actually been spending some time in store among the masses, but like firebane, I still find myself getting brought down (more like frustrated) with all the shit talkers... All the time. So few people can have a civil conversation about covid no matter what side of the argument they fall on. It really is bothersome for me to see the social breakdown of politeness and simple common courtesy for your fellow humans when talking with each other.

The last two days I have decided to work from home...

I cultivated new opportunities that landed in my lap a couple of years ago and this has resulted in additional income.

It kept me busy and focused throughout COVID but I need to re-assess my work/life balance as my wife and I are starting a family soon and my body's fat as fuck these days. I don't eat well and work 10-12 hour days, 6-7 days a week.

The additional income doesn't change my day-to-day much, because most of it is going to paying off the mortgage quicker, supporting my separated parents, and my wife's graduate studies.

I'm just blessed and grateful that I've had opportunities and I feel for those who are struggling.

People in this thread are depressed enough, and then you bring more bad news in here.

Starting to slip downhill, not having much work and worrying about future income is taking its toll. I am just not entirely sure if I can secure another job I actually like easily, and even worse how it will pay.
