Getting the first shot took a massive mental load off me, that I didn't even realize I had. I know I'm not invincible, but it certainly helped. Camping and backyard reno season is going to help even more.

Adrenal fatigue. Your cortisol levels are all over the place and your body is trying to compensate.

I went through this hard in 2020, still am.
Memory fucked up, moody etc etc.

Haven’t even moved the summer cars yet and frankly have no desire at all, which is not the case normally. Hope the nicer weather and more vaccines can start to get us back to normal. I can’t wait to get together with the guys and get just shittered and have a good time.
This. I'm barely out of the house right now, I've only ridden the street bike once, picked up a dirtbike, and haven't even bothered getting it ready.
The only times I've taken the summer car out was for short errands while the weather was nice.

The arrival of the shots, and the ability of the vulnerable people in my life to get them, has helped me quite a bit too. The idea of a summer of continued restrictions is weighing pretty heavily though.

I am an optimistic person by nature, and I'm actually quite fortunate, but it's been harder lately to see the positives.

Ups and downs for sure... I am definitely happier not working at the office anymore, but I am also losing my patience for humans even more than I ever did before. Hopefully this shit will turn around.

I honestly used to love everyone, i can't fucking stand people anymore. It's other peoples shitty attitudes and bullshit that is making this whole entire thing way worse than it needs to be.

That said, we've got it better here than so any other places, even with all this shit on the go. I know it's all relative, but just think about how much shittier it is all over the world and realize even at the worst we're still lucky here.

That's got to be a significant change combined with the significant changes all around. Did you used to be directly dealing with your customers and now you completely don't see them? That would be weird. On one hand, I could see it as a positive because often customers can never seem happy if money is leaving their wallet and that can suck a lot of the satisfaction out of your work days. On the other hand, never getting to see your customers that are happy would decrease that fulfillment.

That's a weird way to think about it though. Money is leaving their wallet not because of Bob; in fact, Bob is helping them get back to status quo with as little interruption to their life as possible.
So whether it is an upgrade or repair, it can be a rewarding experience.

Man, I have rode a desk dealing with the public in a tire store setting for like 34 years now... I am entirely finished with enjoying that anymore! I mean I do still absolutely enjoy dealing with my long term clients and working on forums and so forth, but I have a tough time handling the public in general now. It is fucking exhausting faking happiness and listening to everyone talk shit about everyone else and all the bullshit that goes along with it. I just want to work in the background of my company, deal with the people I always have via e-mail and the odd callback, etc and let someone else deal with randoms coming in the door.

People are having a hard time with a fear of the return to normal - which I think might be what a lot of people are feeling here.

I think you are pretty bang on here man... While many people are excited to get back to "normal", for many of us I think this entire thing has demonstrated how much we were never happy with "normal" and now it feel like aspects will be a slide backwards and not forwards. I know for me it can feel like that.

You're not wrong, but I find that very few customers are happy. If something costs them money, they are "getting screwed". It's the Wal-Mart mentality that everything should be so cheap that the margins are ground down to where there is zero customer service available - and then they complain that there is no customer service.

Then they go home and beat their wife.

It's been a tough 2021 so far. Trying to find work in this environment absolutely sucks balls. Sending off resumes and not hearing anything back sure gets depressing really fucking quick. The only good part about this is that my physical health is better than it has been in over a decade. I'm walking at least 5km per day, and my type 2 diabetes is under control. Other than that, 2021 sucks.

Spot on. I am super grumpy because I have to wake up at 6:30am this morning and put pants on and drag my ass into office.

The bogo McMuffins helps but not to waist line.

Like others, mental health was pretty up and down this past year. A lot of it had to do with work. It was busier than ever the past year but with having our bonus eliminated, other layoffs/offshoring and being expected to do “more with less” (I.e. less resources/people but bigger workload) really got to me. It caused me for the first time in my career to decide to look elsewhere at other companies because I just don’t like the future outlook here. I actually ended up landing a new gig that was a promotion compared to where I was at and I resigned earlier this week after accepting. since resigning I’ve had a lot of mixed feelings but overall I’m happier. Looking forward to getting my weekends and evenings back (at least for a while until I get settled in my new job), and just excited to be able to never have to look at all the back burner things in my overflowing inbox. That said, I know my new workplace will have its own set of similar problems but I think starting fresh will be energizing and hopefully improve my overall mind state vs constantly feeling I was stuck in a rut.

Still looking in that direction. If my wife would just agree to follow her dreams instead of playing safe with employment.
