Did you expect any different from a thread started to discuss difficulty people are having holding it together during all this? If you don't like it, don't enter.

Sorry to hear about all that Andy. At least you are subject to benefits. I'm living 100% off savings right now, and have enough to sustain myself for another 2-3 months. After that, no idea how I'll pay the bills.

    Good times.
I am so sorry to hear that.

i think it works out to 1.5 joints but I take mine via oils. Perspective when I first started I would be high af off 10mg but tolerance shot up to 100mg to get that desired effect. I only used it to sleep but I guess it got to a point I couldn't quiet my brain and it didn't help anymore so I just said fk it and went cold turkey. It was horrible the withdrawal. Idk but it seems like I can get by with minimal sleep now lol only 3 hours last night for example.
100mg is an insane daily dosage. How long did it take to build up that kind of tolerance? Something I've realized and try to practice is to never use any kind of substance, even alcohol, to deal with and adjust mood. It really just makes whatever problem you have worse because you're using substances to suppress the issue while potentially forming a dependency rather than dealing with the issue directly. Substances are fine when used in a controlled way. It should be treated like the occasional decadent dessert rather than the main course every night. I've really cut down on alcohol since having kids (seems to be the opposite of most parents) and the one or two drinks per week feel like an awesome reward rather than a coping mechanism.

Try things like yoga, meditation, and reading to help calm yourself down. I find reading a good book for an extended period really puts me into an almost meditative state. Also reading is less passive than watching TV - something about building the mental image in your head rather than strictly consuming images off a screen.

Jee, and I thought I had it rough when my coffee mug exploded this morning while putting hot water in it for tea.

Hope things get better Tony, breaking up with a long term girlfriend can definitely mess with a guy on top of everything else.

I find time does fly as I get older being locked in a house for the lockdown, and video games really have to hook me to get me to play them. So its not just you. Personally I've found cardio to be the best stress relief, but unless.you find an activity that you like doing, its tough to keep at it.

My mom went through this a couple of months ago. Her brother (my uncle) went in for a minor surgery to repair a vein in his leg. Next thing we heard was that it didn't work and he only had a couple of weeks to live. She couldn't fly over as she would have to quarantine, and he would most likely be gone by then. He lasted 3 weeks, but eventually lost his life. This was her baby brother, and was her second brother to lose his life suddenly. Her other brother died of a heart attack about 4 years ago.

This year has sucked. This year personally I have had to put my 8 year old dog down, moved houses, was fired in July, and then my uncle. Here's hoping that 2021 at least starts to get better, but I'm not holding out any hope for that.
Hang on. You didn't get fired. You got laid off and there's a huge difference.
Does your year still suck? Absolutely! But your employer simply had no choice but to make the biz decision to let a resource go who they couldn't find chargeable time for. It's not about you.

Don't let the anguish of the year make you blame yourself for issues that were completely out of your control in your former employer's business.

Got out and did some geocaching today, y'all should consider trying it out. One can sign the logs virtually via the app which means no handling of the physical cache. Did check on three of my geocaches today, two still in great shape while the third has been stolen for a second time - won't replace anymore even though it was located in such a great unknosn wild ravine inside of Queens Park Cemetery. Got a another new one planned though for an island in a pond south of the blue ring - access will be the difficult thing as you won't be able to just walk up to it most of the year.

I had never heard of geocaching until I accidentally found one outside a hotel/condo in Canmore. Interesting stuff.

Yeah, I've stumbled upon a few while not even looking for them while there's many I've tried 3-4 times to find and couldn't - one I found totally by accident by standing in it, a fake concrete parking curb that used to be in the parking lot of the Huntington Hills Superstore parking lot. Two of my kids and myself looked for that one several times without luck and one evening we were there and I stepped back on to a parking curb to get a better look at the area we were searching and lo and behold, the parking curb rocked a bit. One of the best hides I've found. Been to some wicked remote places geocaching as well and amazing unknown places right here in the city.

I’m sure there’s more than a few that do it on this site. I did it for around 10 years until my wife spawned a couple of kids, but they will be old enough to enjoy now so I’ll have to start up again. Most of ones I’ve enjoyed were on scrambles or in the deep back country off-roading.

Good luck, those gangs are very selective.

I'd be in for a geocash gang. Always nice to have a couple extra bucks this time of year.

Some kids were playing in the soccer field in front of our old house (Westside, bishes!) a few years back when I was working out front. There was a thick treeline/bushes beside the soccer field. Out of nowhere came a number of police cars from all directions to the treeline. Cops jumped out, circled the treeline and pulled some dude I hadn't even seen out of the bushes and cuffed him. After a few minutes of discussion, they let him go. Turned out the poor bastard was doing a geocache placement thing and someone reported him as a pedo taking pictures of the soccer kids.

I still laugh about that one.

Sorry to hear that. I hope your mother is doing ok.
I lost a uncle to Cancer a few year back (I also lost a relative to cancer last month, but thats another story). Actually it was one of the reasons I quit working in banking. I had to help sort out funeral arrangements as my cousin brother lacked English or the understanding of the vampires and cockroaches that would come out. When I retuned to work I had missed out on my sales target by 2 percent. Not a big deal as the numbers were waay higher in general. But I was told had I been there for that week and a half I would have hit my target. I explained my uncle died. My mother had spent so much her hard earned money to get them out of rural India to have a better life over the past 30 years. I had been asked to help her brother. It did not matter, I got written up for not hitting my target. It was from that I decided to move on and find another job.

Sorry to hear about the dog, thats harsh. I hope 2021 works out better.

I started going back to the gym, I have to super careful with my injury and long term sickness. I dont want to wipe myself out. The last couple of gym sessions have been good. Its almost like a meditation and just like Arnold Schwarzenegger said... When you start to get that pump.. it gets addictive. The hour only session makes it more focused. Less rest and no phone play. But at times when the hour is up its like I only did a warm up. My injuries flare up after.
But you are right, its hard to find a activity that keeps the mind focused.

The breakup with the ex was ok. Im fine. Not my first rodeo. But I guess this might be more of a discussion for another thread or something over a beer. Dating has changed a lot over the last 15 years. It is different in north America.

Part of the mental challenge I face on this is that as a immigrant I am seeing a lack of respect or understanding from women (dating)how hard it is. Not only is it hard coming to a new land with virtually nothing, its also hard for guys. Especially in terms of work and access to opportunities. The media seems to portray all guys have this drive, ambition, high worth jobs that are easily accessible. Its just not the case at all. Especially with the clients I used to have in the industry I worked in. I have had to retrain three times since 2012.
It has a profound impact on relationships. It is creating a really bad false illusion for women that they can do everything and have it all when there are actual limitations in various areas. Added to the fact that guys are just seen to be only used for their resources and are disposable.
Thats been part of the mental challenge. Battling or navigating peoples delusions, unrealistic expecations be it in a relationship or dating.

If anything we made a better decision because we had a consensus and were all on the same page.
