What would you boys do if we were in a real crisis? An actual war, with like bullets? An actual famine?

Go to mommas and cry in her lap?

Yes this is a difficult time for people. I can see it in my own social circle too. Some strained conversations happening.

Be kind if you can, to yourself and others.
Myself and my wife have different opinions on it, due to different levels of exposure. I've been remote/WFH since March 2020 across 3 jobs. I only leave the house to go to the gym at 6am on weekdays. She's been in the office almost the entire time (and taking transit daily). I'm good with restrictions ending, because I don't see a clear benefit anymore, she wants restrictions to stay in place, because she has concerns over what she's exposed to on a daily basis. It's a semi-strained topic for sure, it feels like we're both walking on eggshells.

    Your wife is right.

The worst part will be the pressure and ridicule she'll endure daily from mouth breathers telling her she doesn't need to wear a mask anymore, that masks don't work anyway, that masks are poisoning her etc.

I'm of course going to continue wearing mine till a universal vaccine, or until covid #s in hospital drops by 90%. Relaxing our already mild restrictions early is why this crap has dragged on for 2 years and killed thousands.

I'm a bit of a juice monkey, and fear that when I'm on 1 gram of Trenbolone, some mouth breather will start offering me advice on my mask, and I'll end up in jail. Seriously. Had it. With. Mouth Breathers. Pretending. They are doctors.

More Boomer words were never spoken. I don't understand how anyone can deny the importance of mental health.

I have a lot going on with sick elderly parents. My dad's death is probably days away so that sucks. In terms of all the other pressures in life with the pandemic and work pressures, I've figured out a few things that work for me. I've cut out watching the news. Nothing but garbage on there right now. I've limited my social media and ditched a bunch of toxic "friends" on there. You know the ones. Everything is a conspiracy. I've upped my exercise régime and have cut back almost all alcohol. I find not only am I my more centered but I can deal with things better when the shit hits the fan.
Sorry to hear about your sick parents and your father.
Its great to hear the second part of your post. Keep the gym stuff up. I have the opposite problem with alcohol. Since loosing my sister and dad, my alcohol intake has increased. I never understood why people drank until I started getting anxiety attacks. Id get them in the eveninga and mornings. Alcohol seems to work. Its weird. I don't drink alone though. Last year I was at a friends place and I started to get a anxiety attack real bad. I had a drink, I should not say this. But my god it works... Now I know why people self medicate with alcohol.

I feel like it isn’t Toma. But they are definitely in the right thread. That dude has serious depression issues. I’m not being flippant or condescending either (and wouldn’t mock that). It’s pretty transparent.

Dad passed away this morning in his sleep. Dementia is an ugly disease to witness.

I think you might want to look into Psilocybin treatments. Very safe, not risky, could be a nudge in the right direction. There's a different thread for that, but worth consideration. I love drinking, but alcohol is not a great medication for several reasons.

If she had been working in a relatively empty office, the idea of people rolling back in could induce some anxiety.

And the reverse is true. Especially people who had been working from home with pets.

As for the exposure, at this point, you are almost guarantee to be exposed to COVID and we have done all we can personally. Gotta mentally readjust back if WFH isn't an option going forward.

Sorry to hear that. Really, I am, my mom went in a similar manor, and it was super painful as our relationship deteriorated as her dementia progressed. In my case, she was so angry and bitter at the world, didn't recognize us anymore etc. It was brutal. I don't wish that on anyone.

Please understand my comments here were not to you, they were more for the guys that act all tough and bully people in the covid threads with their selfish rhetoric, or in rep comments to me, then come here and whine about being lonely and isolated or whatever because of the minor inconvenience of restrictions.

Family passing is different (I also lost someone close due to covid, but that was quick, the hardest part was not being admitted to hospital to see them and thinking they felt like they died alone)

    My condolences.
