Default Should a person take the laid off package from full time or go to part time

my former secretary was working full time at senior admin. level. due to the virus, her co. give her a choice:

    laid off

reduce to 5 hr. per day.

she's been working full time for 10 yr. If she takes the laid off package, how many mth. does UI covers and how many % payment does UI gives her from her full time job?

It depends what her salary is and what her prospects to find work are. Roughly, you'd have to figure out her salary vs ei payment.

CERB will pay 4 months at $2000 a month, EI will then pay 12 months at $1146 bi-weekly, assuming she made more than $54g in the last year. All of this is only after her very last paycheque.

Its al gross, not net. The CERB is taxable, but it isn't taken off right away she would have to pay next tax file. EI taxes are taken off each cheque.

Even if she is not making much, for some people it might be worthwhile to take the part time just for mental health.

Any value of benefits, or just the promise of future work, is worthwhile too. Unless you hate your job, you should fight like hell to keep it even if EI would be more money.

A senior admin makes 44k a year? What do you mean by senior? 65+?

It's not an idea, it's a fact, and very plainly stated right on the governments website.

    These benefits are taxable

You will need to report any payments received on next year's tax filing. An information slip will be made available for the 2020 tax year in My Account under Tax Information Slips (T4 and more).

I like Mar. Mar may not appear to listen, but he does. He's also not devious like this one is.

This clown is the worst kind of cheap.

Coupon collecting self absorbed dweeb endlessly caught up in impressing the Jones.

He the type to own a Velcro wallet.
