The only company I know of FOR NOW that's handing our "rebates" is Allstate which also operates under the name Pembridge. In my analysis this dumb as fuck because for those folks who are now WFH all you need to do is adjust your policy from commuting to pleasure use only and there will be savings (the amounts vary wildly by policy). Handing out a blanket rebate now gives money to those people whose risk profile hasn't changed (the nurse that still drives to work for example). I should have more details on the Allstate / Pembridge thing next week as we're supposed to get an update sometime on Monday. FWIW I don't have a lot of faith that it will be a well thought out program because I actually heard about it online before we were officially notified and FFS I've only been selling their shit for little over 20 years.
Talked to my broker and adjusting my insurance would equate to ~10/month

    Not worth it to me.

It was a simple and quick process to tell my agent to change from Commute to Pleasure to save some money.

Just went onto TD portal -> Chat, and they reduced it to 1000km/pleasure until July 16th at which point it goes back to normal coverage.

Saved 60 bucks for May, and 30 each for June and July. (2 vehicles, 210/month normally)

Took a long time as they are busy, and the system took about 10+ minutes just to process the request by the agent, but it's chat so who cares.

Id light my dick on fire before giving money to desjardins and I hope you feel the same.
Knowing what I know about their claims department I would say you're on the right track.

My Allstate broker said "We will automatically be sending this refund back to clients in the month of May. There is no need to apply and this will be for all Allstate clients. 25% off for the month of May".

So this was the verification I was waiting for today from Pembridge (division of Allstate). I didn't know if it was 25% of the annual premium as a refund or just for one month. It's 25% of a month's premium. That doesn't add up to a lot of real money but it's better than a kick in the teeth I guess.

clearly i am blind. thanks for that, was able to chat live with them.

Ended up getting $222 off my yearly premium by removing the 10km commute to work off our policy. I should have actually done this in October 2019 when my wife started mat leave (i take transit downtown) but didn't think it would make much of a difference. Now i know.

So pembridge will just send me some cash back? Nice.

Yep, it's a bunch of bullshit window dressing wrapped up in a pretty package with the intention of getting more of your info. They're basically going into your own closet, grabbing a shirt, handing it to you and saying "here, we got you a new shirt". Well Gee thanks, isn't that swell!

In the end just contact your broker as there are ways to save you some decent money if your vehicle usage has changed (which has always been the case).

No problem. If you've gone from commuting usage to pleasure only (either WFH or laid off) there should be a couple of hundred dollars per year in savings.

Mine was decent, like $400. That said, I'll take a dime if they give it to me. Although that did include parking my truck as well since I have less than zero faith they will open the campgrounds. I think just the commute to pleasure was like $30 a month?
    Cos...
