All taxes are going up so they have more money for rebates to special interest groups groups subjected to systematic inequality or inequity.

Of all the things the Canadian government has fucked up, indexing alcohol tax to inflation is not one of them, IMO.

    Say what now?

Maybe I've had too many Guiness' at 2 in the afternoon, but isn't a percentage tax, by its nature, indexed to inflation? i.e., tax revenue goes up as prices go up / inflate.

Though, increasing the tax rate under inflationary conditions is the sort of double-dipping I'd expect.

Consumption taxes are my favorite taxes, but there are two problems with the current taxes on alcohol:

    1) they're too high, accounting for 1/2 to 3/4s of the price of alcohol in stores.

    2) the idiots in charge of the tax revenue.

Winsport is wicked for kids lessons.
I'm very classy today. Siempre tequila and sprite to take the edge off the week. And this week had a lot of edges for me.

    2) is without question the biggest shortcoming haha.

In other news, this weird vodka I stumbled upon is very good. Extremely mellow with no shitty ketone or any other foreign flavour. It's super neutral, which is what I prefer.
I think it counts as some sort of virtue signalling, as well. On account a the Ukraine thing. I'm helping.

Canadians are drinking less than ever, but definitely not staying sober, or cost.

It's almost as if something else was recently legalized and easily accessible to everyone, that doesn't cause hangovers.
