    Default Patio Furniture

    Hey,

Need some ideas on patio furniture. I don't think we are going on a vacation this year and with camping restrictions I feel that we will be on the deck a lot more.

I am looking at patio furniture in the 2-4000 range and would like something that would last in the 10 year range.

Currently I am looking at the Toja brand at Costco, but I am curious if anyone has experience with that brand or with other medium end brands.

From what I can tell the UV resistance is important, and Toja is around 2000 hours or something which doesn't seem like much. Also have a North facing deck so maybe UV isn't critical.

    Set being considered.

    Thanks.

Legit sunbrella or plan on replacing every 3 years.

How can I tell the difference between legit sunbrella and crappy sunbrella?

It has a tag in it that says "sunbrella" and costs 3x more than that Costco stuff.

This is a link to the manufacturer. Not much info on the fabric other than its sunbrella. Not sure if that helps me.

    https://toja.ca/products/2019-turo-sofa-set

The supplier has embedded videos from sunbrella. I'll take that as a good sign

2-4k is an interesting range... when we shopped we found that there's lots available for sub-2k, and lots available for >4k, but not a lot in between. We had a similar budget when we shopped, and I think I wound up getting stuff from Rona. Costco didn't have a decent set when we were looking IIRC, it's highly likely we would have wound up with stuff that you linked if it was available.

We spent ~2k on ours, and my wife's parents spent ~10k on theirs... both sunbrella fabric. The difference is in how comfortable they are, quality of the frame, thickness of cushions, etc.

Buying patio furniture online is such a crap shoot. If costco specifies 2000 hours of uv protection that's a bit more then the crap you'll get at home depot.

Im assuming the uv rating is on the wicker? Industry gold standard on wicker is 5000 hours of uv protection. When it comes to fabrics the main thing is figuring out what grade it is. If it's a $2000 set odds are it's a low grade fabric. Sunbrella doesnt automatically mean it's good as sunbrella is just a name but they have the low end cheap crap up to a fabric that will be ridiculously expensive.

IMO if your spending good money on a patio set store your cushion inside once winter hits.

We picked up a set from Patioline with the legit fabrics. Really good stuff.

That being said, I can understand the economics of buying something cheaper with solid bones (cast iron?) and replacing the cushions every few years.

Depends on the style you are going with.

We bought a $2.4K outdoor dining set but a $1K lounging set and the quality is staggering. We wish we didn't cheap out on the lounging set. Definitly worth paying a little more imo.

This is the sunbrella fabric used.

    https://www.sunbrella.com/sunbrella-...ver-40433-0000
    6.5 oz per sq yard
No idea if that's good or bad.

Ended up buying a set from Toja through Costco. Overall impressed. Pretty comfortable. Looks and feels well constructed.

Wasnt super stain resistant out of the box. Need to get a nice day to apply some of costcos stain protector.

Has really helped out our deck space, which is good because it doesnt look like we will be able to book much camping

It was $150. Had a bunch at deerfoot meadows a couple weeks ago.

Pretty nicely finished, can support 600 lbs on the lid too.

The costco deckbox is awesome. Really nice quality for the price and size. We ordered a different deck box before from wayfair for slightly less and the quality on that one is far inferior. Really happy with the Costco one.

We had to search forever for a deck box big enough for all our cushions (1 couch and 2 chairs) and the only one we could find that was reasonably priced was this one:

Setup was easy and its holding up great.

I'll piggy back off this thread

Has anyone every sourced some waterproof/vinyl material to make their own patio covers? I have a couple wooden rocking chairs that I'd like to have a waterproof covering, along with a fire table that just came with a very basic cover that isn't waterproof at all.

Going to start calling around but figured I'd check on here as well.
