    Default Plastic Dip....

    First off, don’t hate.

A year ago I had my truck fenders powder coated and well the oilfield Alberta roads have taken their tolls of them.

Now that I’m in the beautiful USA, all I seem to drive on is pavement so I was looking for a temporary Aesthetically pleasing Cover up until the market recovers and I can spend the big dollars on getting them powder coated again.

With that being said, how does plastic coating stand up with the odd rock every once and awhile.

Pics of said fenders. ( note this was when they were new )

It doesn't stand up. I did my running boards and they dont last more then 6 months, even with 6+ coats

I would steer clear of Plasti Dip if you are using it for protection. Maybe bed liner for now knowing that they will have to sand blast it anyways before powder coating

Bed liner makes more sense to me too. Plasti dip will not stand up. It is, however, easy to just spray more layers on if it starts to get damaged.

Aerosolized rubber does little to nothing for long term protection.

It also fades over time and looks like ass.

    YMMV.

I’m looking for something that will look good for 3-6 month and then I’ll re do the powder coating. This C19 really has me budgeting hard.

How about black automotive spray paint and a couple coats of clear?

Aren't paint products super cheap down in the states?

The one thing I do like about plasti-dip is that it blends together well but my experience is that it catches alot of dust and the aforementioned fading over time.
