My MacBook Pro’s display goes dark as soon as I enter my password. Tried plugging in an HDMI but no output. Out of warranty.

Have you tried a factory reset? (the NVRAM, back to default settings - apple equivalent of a BIOS reset) ..... its been a while but I've seen devices acting weird, being helped with this
