my only concern is getting testicle radiation when standing in front of it haha.
I do actually think about that, and while it's on, I don't stand in front of it and don't let my dog stand in front of it.
    Not that I use them....

How about a drop down door microwave so that your balls can get caught in one too?

we bought my parents place and they renovated and modernized the interior and now the microwave is on the island.
personally I like it as our kitchen doesnt have many upper cabinets and makes it look more open. the only downsize is that yeah you have to get low to access the microwave which is not a big deal to me. maybe if you are 6ft+

When we got this house it came with a microwave oven and it is the best thing ever. We do >80% of our baking in this thing since it heats up so much faster while doubling as a microwave. It's a must-have for us moving forward

OP if you get a stacked oven and microwave, that would push you to have a built in cook top which regains a little bit of cabinet. Also cabinet storage above and below this microwave/oven tower.

I can say with great certainty that if i had a bellow the waist Microwave, my 18mo old would have microwaved our keys, cell phones, toys, tv remotes, ect. We looked at a place where it was in the island it was just weird.
We have microwave on the island below the counter. I've always liked it especially in smaller houses or in a condo. Saves space, looks clean. Holding the start button will lock the buttons if you can remember to do it.
Also have a 3 year old and he's been "ok", he figured out he can turn on the microwave by pushing the door button halfway... I didn't know it could do that but otherwise nothing has been microwaved yet that shouldn't be... "knock on wood".

Bigger house i'd put it somewhere more accessible and kid friendly for sure.

I debated this when renovating last year, ended up just adding a plug in the walk-in pantry and keeping out of sight entirely.

Hey, I'll readily admit that I'm guilty as well but it really has become a more of a life style/advice forum. That's because y'all are getting old as fuck and have more pressing concerns to discuss - says the guy that's almost as old as dirt.
