Followed their instructions (have to inform host first), everything refunded, zero hassles.
But I also had a great experience with Air Canada, refunded my tickets completely, didn't try to give me a voucher, and I did NOT have travel insurance or anything, base econo tickets.
Maybe I really lucked out?
As for Airbnb as a service, I really like them. Used their services for years, mostly as a guest. Significant savings in Japan for our group of 4 guys, great locations. Hotels are quite expensive there.
I've also used Airbnb in Canada before. Zero problems. And compared to hotels in Canada, I've stayed at some of the nicer ones out west. Very unimpressed most of the time at $300-$400+ a night.
