    Default Luxury built-in kitchen appliances

As I install cabinets for a living, I do get to see some pretty amazing stuff in people's kitchens. Probably the most common built-in appliance I see or deal with are the high end coffee machines, some worth north of $5,000 and at that price they don't even have a water supply connnected up to them.

We also went shopping for a new refrigerator this past weekend as our 23+ year old one has decided that it's close to calling it a day. While at the appliance place, I happened to walk by a built-in rotisserie meant for one's kitchen - that I have not seen in any kitchen I've done and I wonder how much of a mess that thing would create around it.

I've also seen 7 foot tall wine coolers in kitchens, side by side Sub Zero refrigerators, each over 5 feet in width and a hood fan in one place that could push out 2,000 CFM.

What crazy stuff have you seen out there?

Not crazy by any means but I've always been envious of people who have either separate fridge and freezer unit in the kitchen, or built-in refrigerated draws ( https://www.lowes.com/pd/KitchenAid-...Ready/50393488 )

I've done quite a number of kitchens where the dishwasher and the refrigerator both have panels on their doors to make them blend in with the cabinets - a real PITA to install those panels. Wine coolers as well with panel fronts.

You install cabinets? I didn't know that. I could use more cabinets.

Oh man ever time I see one of those Miele Built-in Coffee Machines I chuckle to myself. They make the WORST espresso, even a cheap Breville does a much better job. What a waste of money..

Weird thing I've seen. Guy has a massive top loading fridge in the counter top. He gained extra counter but this was like a top loading fridge you would see on a boat. super weird.

we were going to go with a built in coffee machine until we found out you couldn't get a direct water line.

We have a 1200 CFM hood fan, can't imagine 2000. That's like a wind tunnel generator. haha.

I'm doing my kitchen reno in the next year or so. Should I be calling you directly to set something up on cabinets?

If I was filthy rich, as opposed to just filthy, I'd have one of those wind tunnel extractor fans, fuck yes. Maybe one of those east-indian "spice kitchens" or something. I want my hair to be blowing around from the gale force winds, yes I do.

We have a built in machine with a tank... It's a bit of a pain, but only needs to be refilled every other day or so. A dedicated waterline would be amazing.

I find the biggest shortcoming to be the inability to brew a larger 'pot' of coffee when hosting a larger gathering... Maybe other machines have this option?

I'm not a coffee snob and obviously it comes down to the beans, but I like the coffee & espresso our makes.

I've seen one house with a dedicated prep kitchen, complete with fridge, dishwasher (x2), cook top, oven (x2) and built in sous vide

Massive kitchen wine installs are quite common here in BC from what I've seen.
We have a Thermador built in coffee machine. I use it for my AM fix and find it helpful. Guests love it. I think I fill tank q3days.
Prep / spice kitchen will be a must for next build for our EI cooking needs .

Nope, I just subcontract for the installation to the cabinet companies I work for.

I can put you in contact with both a large cabinet shop in the city and a smaller one as well. The smaller one builds higher quality cabinets and does a lot of special detailing that you won't get from the larger shops. I won't get any kickbacks but referrals keep me in good standing.

Spice kitchens are awesome for any cuisine. I have a dual blower 900 CFM but I can always use more when getting the burnt plastic out of the home from toasting the toaster.
Speaking of spice. I miss Spice Hut at Hunterhorn Plaza. https://www.spicehutcalgarycanada.com/

Even a separate kitchen can't contain all that cumin

What's funny is that many of those spice kitchens are used as the regular kitchen and the actual kitchen is maintained as a show off part of the home.

Growing up in Vancouver, those gained great popularity there in the early to mid 90's. And this is the sentiment exactly, everyone I knew who had one barely ever used the main kitchen.

Why not just do a better job isolating your main kitchen?

Put main kitchen outside! In my trailer probably 90% of all cooking is done outdoors. That would be really easy with a covered porch kitchen area.

Fuck, I have an item to add to my wish list for my dream house.
