Default Escort Passport Live app, feedback?

Hey, I’m looking at getting the power cord necessary to get access to this app. Apparently updates in real-time for speed traps etc.

Anyone have experience with this? Would you recommend? How accurate is the data?

Seems it is only really of value if there are enough users locally collecting data.

Just my opinion, but if I cannot read a ISC warning sign before an intersection - nor notice the Ford SUV/Truck parked on the side of the road with/without flashers on - I dont think an app is going to be of much help.

What would be more helpful is a weathered license plate (see many on the road).

I used it back when it was free, and paid for a 1 month sub last summer on a road trip to Vancouver. Only real benefit I got out of it was having the speed limits displayed on the detector itself(and a quite a few times where it actually showed the correct limit vs Waze which had an outdated one). They say that it pulls report data from Waze as well, but in my experience I didn't think it did, or maybe it's just a US thing and wasn't implemented in Canada? Also have to remember that the only people that would be using the Escort Live app would be fellow Escort owners, which logically will be a way lower user base than what Waze has.

TL;DR: Save your money, use Waze.

+1 for Waze. I use it, in addition to a detector when I travel QEII and always try to mark the spots where a speed trap is. The more people that use it, the better. I have had a pretty decent experience with it.

Ok, but there are still plenty of conventional speed traps and with most of them using lidar, advanced warning is key.

Should also add that I found way more value in getting a Blendmount+Mirrortap(or a knockoff) than I ever got out of the SmartCord.

Lidar traps are all over the place in the city - pretty much any stretch of road with an area of a pullout/side road becomes a potential trap. Then you have unmarked traffic units all over the place in the city as well.

Dont speed in the city more than 11 over and generally you should be fine.

On the highway is where detectors start to make sense.

Waze saves my ass every time I'm on the road for work. And like others have said more people using it = more police traps reported although before this whole pandemic thing the majority I saw were marked already.
