Anyone planning to head east? Maybe not Ontario, but surrounding area. I was told to use vacation so now I have two weeks off in August and I’m looking at places to stay or camp.
Kenora... beautiful, but only about 12hr drive, might as well save the additional 16hrs to the exact same sceneryThis quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
I just did this loop last weekend, rented an AirBNB in Beaver Mines for two nights and did things around that area, some of which are in the link. The point on the bottom left is a 16KM hike over to a military plane crash in the 40s, with parts of the plane still there. If you don't hike often and don't have fancy trail maps and need to figure out a starting point I can help. We hiked for like an hour before we got confirmation we were on the right path, it's not well marked at all.
I heard about Kenora from buddies that rent cabins out there to go fishing. Unfortunately the one they go to does not allow pets. I’ll keep looking though, I’d love to just wake up and be able to fish for a week or so.This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote

We are cancelling our Hawaii trip for October and considering either going to Vancouver island or fly to Montreal.
Not sure how our 2 year old will enjoy wearing a mask for the whole flight though.
Also what's there to do in Montreal?
Planning to go mid-October to hit the fall colors and it looks we can see most of Montreal within 3-4 days.
Anything else worth checking? Ottawa or Quebec City?
We did Revelstoke and Kelowna earlier this month already.
Did Waterton last week and it was a great time. Not that busy and we had the whole town to ourselves. Although we left early at 6AM to start hiking at 8ish.
Do you speak any french or anyone going with you that speak french? This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
i got some really shitty service and disgusting looks for not speaking it when I was there, probably not as bad as the rest of the province but having someone with me that spoke french was key

we try to go there at least once a year but since we cant get to US Glacier NP, I don't feel like driving down there this year haha.
None of us can speak french but I like to give them the benefit of the doubt until I experience it myself, plus I've given up expecting warm service from frenchmensThis quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
My parents and sister went to Montreal a couple of years ago and enjoyed it, didnt hear any complaints about service but things might be different this time though with the pandemic.
Maybe being Asian helps with that a bit, less expectation of knowing the French languageThis quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote

Mtl is a pretty English town... no issues for me, but could see an issue with out of province visitors right now as they were hit super hard by Covid... but then again, might also appreciate the business cause of it
I could not find pet friendly places to stay since it was last minute so we ditched that idea, ended up going to a friend's cabin at Lake Athabasca, and then spent a few nights in Jasper. We are planning to go to Osoyoos in the fall, I've only been there in the summer. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
Spoke to a few Albertan’s while in Jasper and most of them said that they had no issues while traveling in BC.
Muskoka next summer. Book now
