i thought what @flipstah was meaning was to hire a filipino that already has PR. Most we know want to go into working at seniors homes / long term care - you might find several that do not want to do that due to the covid plus they make fuck all in long term care as well. The ones we knew that did it just tried it out then went back to being nannies. However as soon as they have their own license and car you might be getting into the $20 an hour range, but perhaps that plus more is the going rate now.

Filipinos are great. I endorse this post.
    +1

Filipinos have been buying my fb marketplace $5-20 items, on time, great communication. They arrive, hand money, exchange product. There was a funny incident tho, sold this brand new in box volt metre to this young Filipino kid, he complains it doesn’t work, demands I go pickup and refund. Whatever, don’t want to lose my fb rep power, I get home with the item, look at the box says batteries required, not included. Then he put me on ignore.

Yes agreed with this post. Sorry; should’ve been more clear.

But at the end of the day, if you meet the person and you make a judgment then, you can’t go wrong either way. One method is easier, administrative wise.

Like you said: don’t use those agents. They take advantage of both persons.

Props to you guys, I could never trust having someone in my home all day when I’m not there. Have tried cleaners, can’t get over the invasion of privacy and lack of respect for my things.

I don’t even like my wife being in my house.

I have heard the winning ticket is having multiple nannies and a wife that doesn’t work though.

Are these nannies under 25 and do you live in Airdrie?

    .
A family member of mine sponsored philipino nannies twice in a row. First one fell through for one reason or another... second one seemed awesome, but after a reasonable amount of time (I wanna say 6-12 months?) they found out she was stealing certain pieces of their mail and writing cheques to herself.

+1 on not hiring help. That's why I married a woman that wants to be a stay at home parent. (obviously I'm aware this post is zero help to OP )

The filipino organized crime community will force nannies to steal and/or commit fraud. I don't know how common it is, but I personally know more than one person where this happened.

In laws had their house ransacked a couple weeks after letting their Filipino housecleaner go. Whoever did it knew where everything valuable was, when they wouldn’t be there, and alarm was never triggered (codes never got changed).

You can connect the dots however you feel. CPS did dick all about it.

Import nannies are cheap for a reason, and you get what you pay for when it comes to help. I would go a long ways to stay as far away from that situation as I can, just my personal opinion.

I don't see where this is going because the nannies you get that are Canadian or have lived in Canada for awhile are also Filipino... Ours was a treasure.
Aren't there piles of Filipino members on this forum?

I think it's a better method to purchase this service from within Canada as many of these nannies have been recently let go while their employers have found themselves stuck at home. People from the Philippines are disproportionately awesome! I'm not ready to go eat the food from Jollibee, but I'm ready to stand up for our Filipinos!

It’s pretty common but that’s with anyone. Any human steals.

The same things that make sponsored filipino nannies vulnerable to our sponsorship laws and abuse by employers makes them vulnerable to be captured by evildoers.

This is why camera systems are an absolute must. Hardwired in hard to reach places and instant viewing on your phone.
Cheap solution for the amount of added value it brings.

...The only benefit is the desire for virtually free labour because you get to deduct room & board from her tiny salary...
For the record this changed a couple years ago, the government does not allow for room and board to be deducted. We never once have deducted it from our nanny. We sponsored herin 2018, did the LMIA, got the work permit and brought her over.

As for how they are in the household; at least with ours we found it took a lot of time to explain to her that the primary duties were childcare and their development and not being a housekeeper. Again that is going to be specific to the individual and what is their training and background.

That said, I don't know much about the process of taking over the work permit of someone already here.

CPS doesn't investigate home break-ins. They come and collect evidence, and they just save it in case the same criminal is ever arrested again in the future for something else, and can link him/her to other crimes. So, in other words, they basically get a free pass unless they turn themselves in.

Hardest working ppl 100% would recommend.
From my interactions i would totally agree. The Can tire in Beacon was well over 50% Philipino a couple years ago and the service was amazing. We've been using a Philipino owned/operated cleaning company for at least 4 years now and they've always been good.

and I did not have the only say in the matter (most people just want it done ASAP and don't care about quality).

If anything we made a better decision because we had a consensus and were all on the same page.
