What does that even mean? People who put the work in and are successful over others are privileged? My boss has a Masters in Mech Engineering and degree in aeronautics, all paid for and earned on his own, he is privileged now? Only chicken shit leftists who sit on their ass all day living on social assistance their entire lives use that word. Unless something has drastically changed over the past 50 years, anyone can rise to the top from nothing with hard work and determination.

Acknowledging privilege doesn't take away from your accomplishments. I'd recognizes that it would be harder for someone without that privilege to achieve the same thing.

I've known a lot of "successful" people who definitely wouldn't be successful if they didn't come from privilege. I've also know successful people who I'm sure would have made it no matter what. Stop looking at just the extreme ends of everything.

At this point, I wouldn’t blame any cops that start to de-police and just not engage unless it’s life or death and if it is, waiting until there is video rolling. There’s no point for them anymore, they get slammed no matter what they do, so they might as well cover themselves.

Call for service? Sure, but you’re going to wait until there are two units, a supervisor and video until we step in. Any agitation, cops immediately back off and leave you to your own devices.

As for that guy, not that he deserved to die either, but let’s look at the root cause analysis that got him in that situation.
Police attempted a traffic stop, he instead decided to try and evade, he jumped in a river, the end.

Lifeguard 101- create distance until the person you are trying to save has calmed down, otherwise they take you down with them.

What's getting lost is that police are still upheld to a standard that involves the preservation of life. Sure this guy was an idiot for jumping into the lake, officers are still obligated to do what they can to help. Without seeing the video, if they stood their and watched him drown: then yeah, they're terrible cops and terrible people. If they tried other means to save him without putting themselves at unnecessary risk, then they did what they could.
