I'm curious to see over the next few days how this affects the daily Covid-19 case count in Calgary.
My guess is it will be little to no growth, which will be a good sign.

It'll take a week or more to see things. Average person is 5 days to symptoms and then there's still a couple days to call/book/do the rest/get results kinda thing. And some people may wait a couple days to call to get tested. June 10th would probably be the spike from this, if there is one.

Fingers crossed we've reduced the number of cases sufficiently that there isn't much for spread. The one hope is that if people are walking / moving that even if someone is sick, hopefully people won't be near that person for too long to actually catch it + wind blowing and such.

The protests, I believe, are a general protest against police using excessive force / brutality. More so an issue in the US than in Canada so it's mostly solidarity protests here.

Everybody likes the idea of fiscally conservative, until they find themselves on the wrong side of a wealth inequality or some random event that re-distributes their wealth away.

Everybody wants to be have "social freedoms" until their sacred cow becomes a priority. For the right it's abortions, for the left it's pronouns or gay birthday cakes.

People like to say they want to be socially liberal and fiscally conservative, but ultimately don't have the stomach for it. And so the politicans don't either. Besides, even if we could attain such a status it takes the levers of manipulation out of the hands of politicians, so nobody wants to actually use that as a platform.
