you guys also have to think about the color match. Its super hard to color match an older vehicle and you may ir may not be disappointed with the results.

I found a guy that did repairs in his garage. I did the two quarter panels and the full roof for about 800ish
I can provide his contact if you guys want to get a quote.
The rust on my qp is starting to come back a little bit though.

Yeah thats the downside from what I was told, did they cut, weld and color match? How long ago did you get the repair done?

Yeah, I guess group buy is not the best term but if any shop if willing to give a discount for more work, I’m definitely interested. The rust damage on mine is quite extensive:

That extent of rust requires a full new 1/4 panel... or really any rust spot on the 1/4's requires new metal. Cut, patch/fix and weld a new one in. Major $$$'s. Like multiple thousands of dollars.

Any quote less then that is simple grinding and patching and it might buy you a little more time before it bubbles again and again.

When I was looking around last year, a shop quoted me $8k IIRC to get it done the right way.

The car has been a fun project for me and my kid, I was planing to give it to him when he turns 18, but due to medical reasons he might not be able to drive at all, the plan is drive it this summer and sell it, sell it for more if I get the rust fixed/ cleaned up.

I've found a place that is offering reasonable rates for rust repair. They're in the NE located a little north of Franklin Mall. 5-year warranty on their work.

I've booked in for July, for those who want to give them a go, drop me a PM and I can send you their details. They're slammed until July.

I remember microprint used to be ok...

I have some rust in the tailgate fold on my 2014 F150 and a bit on the box by the frame...

can you guys let me know where would be best to get that looked at before I do a home job of POR15?

So I tried calling the shop that JDMMAN found and they never got back to me, but I did find a place and my car is going in on the 25th. I’ll let you guys know how it goes and will post pics of the repair.

Clever - I guess they must be slammed because of the recent storm(s)?

Curious which shop you're taking it to and what their quote was vs. others?

@JDMMAN yeah I would assume so too, I decided to use R&J auto body right beside maranello’s , they quoted me $500 per side and we are still discussing touching up the hood and the trunk depending on what else I add to it. They also said that if the rust came back they will fix it, more details on that when I drop off the car, not sure if it’s a one time thing or not.

Another shop quoted me about $2500, to cut, weld, fix the paint and fix the dent on my trunk but they are busy until end of the year. I was going to take it there but I didn’t want to wait since I’m planning to sell the car.

So update, my car went in for repairs but I am using a a different guy. R&J was really cool to deal with but because the rust on my car is more extensive I decided to go with someone who does more than just fiberglass, if anyone is interested I can pm you the guy’s info. I’ll post pics when I get the car back this weekend.

Here’s how mine turned out, it was not done at a shop, it was a guy referred to me by a co worker. So no warranty like JDMMAN. This guy also used epoxy as a filler, apparently they last longer. I will update in year if I remember.
