We recently sat down with my in-laws to go over their retirement plans here last week. ( Mom, 62, retired 5 months ago from BC gov with 35 year pension, dad, 69, retired 3 weeks ago, owned a tirecraft )

It was quite shocking to actually see what money was going out when it was all said and done - we came down to $91,000 / year...~$7600 / month was needed to keep their lifestyle going.

That was all with strict line by line budgeting. Granted that was keeping 4 cars and a decent 15k travel budget per year.

Haha never noticed that before. I am not a big fan of the site in general though, and to think they spent $15K on it. The IT guy also is slow as fuck to do anything.
It looks like you spent $15k on it?

That's upper middle class shit. I am off work currently and my break even for the month is around 3k (with 3 cars, 2 kids and a small mortgage). I don't see how the fuck you actaully need to be spending that much shit/month.

How many of you use TD?

Those that do, have you looked at the TDMyspend?

I seriously think a lot of people think they know what they spend per month but don’t actually calculate every penny spent.

I think most are actually clueless.

Our goal is $7.2M in savings by age 60

Well mine is 7.3 by 55. No idea how you could live on a mere 7.2 MM.

Today I learnt you can save up $7.2 mill by 60 if you don't let your kids drink pop!

That's a good goal. That's all liquid (cash + stocks/bonds)? A 2% yield on that should be stable and allow you to live comfortably without having to draw down. I hope you kill it!

    Yes, cash/shares/bonds. Doesn’t include home.

Outside of Calgary perhaps. Aspen ballers aren’t worth that much.
