Default Attack of the dandelions - what's best to use to double tap these bitches?

Looking for some product recommendations here. This is too far gone to try and dig these bastards out.

What's my best product bet to get rid of all these dandelions without wiping out what little grass is left and the few flowers we have in the garden? Oh, and something dog friendly too...

I am ready to declare war on these bastards.

I’ve had good experiences using Killex https://www.scotts.com/en-ca/product...ol-concentrate

Just keep your dog off the lawn until after it dries and you should be good.

This did the trick for us (we had tons growing in the lawn despite it being thick):

    https://www.canadiantire.ca/en/pdp/s...0783p.html#srp

Won't harm the grass, and it's iron based so to my knowledge it's pet/child safe. Make sure you completely cover the weed.

There is still the odd one that pops up but it was a big improvement.

Some people in our area have lawns that are more dandilion than grass, and in that case I don't know what you do - probably a full wipe-out and just get some new sod.

This is the problem, and why you can never get rid of them. You can use the deadliest dandelion killer known to man, but two weeks later, they're back because of your neighbors, and all the city fields.

The best defense is a healthy lawn that crowds out weeds. Unfortunately that also means mowing twice a week.

    Killex concentrate

But do it on a bright sunny day with no wind. In a few days you'll see them turning yellow and dieing.

+1 for killex. Just put some on my lawn the day before yesterday. Just have to keep the dogs/kids off it until it's dry.

Killex and try to do it before a couple dry days.

Then I dig them up to try and reduce the size of the colony and get the entrenched ones (found a couple who 3/4” stems, nasty fuckers). Then I do spot weed be gone as the pop up from there.

Been fighting this fight for a few weeks now and I’m just starting to get control.

I’m 1 house away from a school, there is thousands of them seeding in the wind right into my yard. Fuckers.

My alley is full of them (0 traffic) so I have been doing a roundup regimen back there to avoid things seeding and suckering into my yard from there as much as possible.

24d/killex the lawn, do a fertilizer treatment same time.

Then twice a week mow & spot treat. Consider switching to a corn gluten meal (suppresses germination of seeds) for summer feed but you'll still be needing to spray the occasional popup.

I just can't believe how resilient they are. I fertilize, water, and seed regularly as well as mow roughly twice a week and it doesn't seem to matter, I have them growing even in the thickets part of the lawn haha. I think we got rid of most of them now though, but the odd one still returns.

If you have pets or young kids you might like the one I posted better. That still will work the same but it's pretty nasty stuff if I'm not mistaken.

Should I attempt to spray my lawn today, or wait until after the rain this weekend?

Do not spray before rain, it won’t kill anything and all you are doing is wasting chemical.

You are only supposed to do a couple killex treatments a year max. Don’t waste them.

I'd wait. If it rains within a day, it's kind of a waste of the product.

I actually discovered the key to stopping a drought, is to spray my lawn, and wash my car on the same day.

    Guaranteed to rain after that.

I would opt for the concentrate over the hose end sprayer. More applications out of a bottle and more control with a pump sprayer.

What do you use to spray the concentrate?
