Default Extrending driveway width to proerpty line on both sides, can't find old trhead

There was a thread about falconridge or somewhere that families are extending the driveway to the full width of the property so that they can park more cars, and the city had some kind of bylaw response to that. Can anyone find that old thread, the newspaper articles, or the city bylaw? My search skills failed me.

I think the bylaw was something about requiring "soft landscaping" to allow drainage, but it had the benefit of preventing everyone turning their yard into a parking lot.

Thanks in advance all your philphans.

Unidriveways! I was searching "monodriveways". Thanks. So what ended up happening? Is there a real bylaw, that cbc article is vague (as expected,).

That fucked up place near Canyon Ghettos def let's you do this. I want to say Midnapoor?
It's a classic example of letting average people get what they think they want and then seeing the tremendous heap of shit it creates.
Recall every employee survey, ever. "We want more transparent communication from mgmt, hurpDittyDurp!!!"
Then it comes the fucking weekly newsletter shit sandwich from mgmt and fucking literally 0.2% read it.

The caveats and right-of-ways and easements and piles of fuck are not worth it.

    Bylaws here:

    https://www.calgary.ca/CA/city-clerk...es/Bylaws.aspx

Direct link that may or may not work:

    http://publicaccess.calgary.ca/lldm0...ction=Download

Thing I found with ctrl+f "driveway":

That portion of a driveway, including a motor vehicle parking stall,
within 6.0 metres of a public sidewalk, or a curb on a street where
there is no public sidewalk, must not exceed a width of:
    (a) 6.0 metres where the parcel width is 9.0 metres or less; or
    (b) 7.0 metres where the parcel width is greater than 9.0 metres
    and less than 15.0 metres.
So there's half an answer. Obviously there's a way around it if there's driveways in town that are wider than 6m and are driveway from side to side. I didn't see anything in the bylaw that allows for exceptions, or how to apply for any kind of exemption.

Do these two yards have enough concrete for you?

Anyone have a rough cost to turn my two car driveway into a 3 car? Looking to bump it out so i can get a summer car in and out of the garage with out having to shuffle vehicles or park on the street.

Don't ever let your wives talk you out of a 3 car garage

put a line exactly at your allowance, the rest is a sidewalk for your disabled family member to safely visit you, or some shit like that

Yeah, if your driveway is brushed concrete, and the pathway is exposed aggregate, it may count. Although, then you'd need to ensure the RPR showed it that way, and I don't know if those dudes take homeowner suggestions.

Suspect if your neighbors don't care, and you don't sell the place, you can do whatever you want.

You need to break the concrete and then start it back up. Most of the triple garage homes in our neighborhood have a split in the driveway between the single and double garage doors.

And then most people have filled the gap in with concrete or pavers.

I still say that front drive homes look shitty in all their forms. Have no desire to live in a neighborhood where that's the standard. Although, I know not everyone is lucky enough to have escaped these terrible neighborhoods . . . .

That’s a pretty wide brush to paint with. A unibrush to paint with if you will.

Front drive is fine if you have a lot big enough to support it nicely.

I believe that you are always permitted to put sidewalk blocks down because they're theoretically "removable" and I've seen many people do this in my 'hood. If you had a pro prep the base, this should work fine for everything except a 1-ton rig rocket.
Also consider adding a gravel trim to either side for an extension. This may qualify you for some horse shit #sustainable #eco credit for eliminating evil evil evil evil grass ("But grass consumes CO2?" "Shut up or I'll murder your family!!!") and calling it "xeriscaping". That's a win win. Mainly for sweet Mother Earth, but still. If you can have that silly Mayor put down a chicken wing long enough to write TreSlo a cheque - that's a W.

But do you have a front attached garage, rear detached garage, and a pool?
