So was posting this in the Supra thread and realized it's an interesting enough topic to be its own discussion maybe. So, went to a yeg car meet and cruise yesterday, with at least 100 or so cars showing up. Lot of tuner crowd etc with younger kids so not quite my crowd.
But one thing that was evident to me was there are way more younger kids (young adults) these days with a lot more expensive cars than used to be the case say 15 years ago when I was in high school. Things like, 19 - 22 year old's with the new GTR's, modified like crazy, awesome wraps etc. I mean we all know these wraps cost $5K and even I don't just jump into getting one, though I would like one. Heard of another 19 year old kid in my area here with an Aventador. I just automatically assume it's his parents', but apparently the kid is the one who always has it.
But anyway, got me wondering why is this the case nowadays? Never used to be like this 15 years ago. Or was it and I just lived under a rock back then? More affluent parents being generous or younger kids being more self sufficient/earning with so many new money making options out there, like Youtube, Instagram etc?
Thoughts?
