And here I am, thinking a X1/9 would be a great sports car to go have fun with on curvy 2 lane backroad BC highways. How out of touch I apparently am.

Having fun on a curvy back road is irrelevant by today’s sports car standards. Please post pics of the instrument cluster in order for this option to be accepted.

It's just not a sportscar without a proper dash

If the speedometer sweep doesn't exceed 1 pi radians and if the cluster resembles any other lesser model, it should never be considered.

I have always felt AMG had the best interiors in the business until I saw a resemblance between the gauge cluster of a C63 AMG and a Car2Go. Yeah, that's not good.

Thank you Beyond for helping me understand what really matters in a sports car, this thread has been enlightening.

Gonna need a lab analysis of the grade of plastic used for the sunglasses holder.

Anything less than LV grade is a fail.

Thank god you can lock your valuables away. No one can access that once they're in your car.

I'm not saying ATS-V is a bad car. By all accounts is a superb sport sedan, I even stood up to its resale value earlier in this thread. But that would suck having to stare at those gauges day in and day our. There is 0 excuse for it to look that similar to a 20 year old Chevrolet Malibu that was itself not known for interior design back in those days. When paying that much for something most people want everything to look good. That's all I was getting at.

Here is a 20 year old MB C class dash, since I don't know what a Chevrolet base model sedan equivalent would have been back then for MB. They at least managed to move the needle a bit in 20 years.

I like to think of it as creating levity, as Beyond has gotten way too uptight the last few years. It needs a good Snickers bar.

I assumed it ended when you asked about sports cars and we start talking about Golf, Fiestas, Foci and Mercedes/Cadillac sedans?

GM has been doing the same shit for 50 years. People are always like "can you believe GM does ________ like this?" Yeah, I can, because that's how they do things. Either accept it or buy something else. They're not going to change for you.

You can get a C6Z for under $50K now, that would be my choice for sure.
I think this one got lost in the mix but a C6Z would be a top contender for fun factor and bang for buck.
