Any reason for wanting the disc version? Playing old PS4 discs was the only use case I could think of. All the new games install onto the SSD to play and the disc does nothing but authenticate ownership. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
For the all digital crowd, something nice about Sony is that you can have one home console per generation. So you can have a PS4 home console, and a PS5 home console, both having all the games available that you own digitally (with PS5 being able to play both). It's like magically owning PS4 games twice.
Xbox doesn't believe in generations, and home console doesn't care if it's One or Series. 1 console only.

Just always been a disc kind of a person I guess. Like seeing my collection of games neatly organized in a case that i will never touch again. Have 30-40 PS3 ones and likely 30 or so PS4 ones sitting there that I will never play again. Also could probably find some PS2 ones somewhere if I looked around. lol. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
Disc versions also get discounted more often than digital it seems.
I got digital though, don't like having to switch discs. I wish Xbox had a digital series x.
Since I have the PS4 hooked up with the simulator in the basement, I think I would set up the PS5 upstairs where I chill more often, so having a disc version will also be helpful with blueray etc if need be.
Xbox and PS are terrible blu ray players. CMV.This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote

Define “terrible”
The only issue I have is lack of Dolby vision support from Blu Ray which is a weird omission.

I haven't watched a movie on disc for a while, but back then, even with Harmony, it's more intuitive to use the controller to hop to blu ray player, start the movie, before the remote was usable. So terrible Ux.This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
And yea, features missing, that's a given.

Sounds like a lot of money in buying an extra dedicated blu ray player for that convenience lol

It cost me way more to rebuy everything digitally for that convenience. A BD player is a drop in the bucket in comparison. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote

The xbox drive is so loud I don't even watch any of my blurays since I need to the volume so high. Same drive on series x as one s/x.
Dedicated devices are awesome. Two tablets for Pokemon go and Arknights, PC for the high end game of the year, PS4 for the exclusives, Xbox for the exclusives, and believe it or not an old HD-DVD with quality upscaler for playing back older or foreign spinning media. The last thing needed is the Nvidia Shield for best streaming.
I wouldn't want to playback movies on PS5 if just for the idea that I do no want to wear out the drive. Coming off PC repair in the old days when 52x CD-Roms had three week factory warranties because they broke that often.

PS4 "running" Disney+ sounded like a drone flying in the middle of your living room. Ridiculous. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
Is the PS5 any worse of a Blu-Ray player than the PS3? I’m still using PS3s in two rooms and they’ve always been solid.
I skipped the PS4 entirely but got a PS5 disc version recently. The main thing I noticed was less options for output formats, and the strange omission of a toslink (optical) audio out. (Had to get an HDMI audio extractor to work with one my older A/V receivers)

Thanks for posting this! I got my order in for pickup at my local store. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
I actually ended up accidentally placing two online orders on Walmart yesterday when they became available for a short period as well. Since I was doing it in a rush, I ended up doing the digital console bundle and after it finalized, I realized and did the Ratchet and Clank bundle with disk version. If anyone wants either of these at the same price I paid for them let me know otherwise I will be canceling those orders once I pick-up my order at Best Buy whenever it's ready.
Probably my biggest complaint so far on the PS5 has to be the pathetically short battery life on the controllers. Were PS4s this bad?
My comparison is with PS3. Those dualshock controllers seemed to go forever between charges.
