Why would this be such a massive burden for Alberta more so than for cities like Edmonton and Calgary that already did it? Seems to me like setting up a police force would be a lot like an LS engine build. There is blue prints for it all over the place, just pick one and follow it.
The OPP seems to be a pretty good blueprint. Mix of rural and urban communities, while cities/major centers run by their own police services.

The RCMP also run single member cruisers - in the middle of nowhere - all in the name of cost savings.

Many RCMP members have stopped doing night time rural vehicle stops as the risk is too high - and no backup for an hour in some cases.
So that alone make APP budget to be around $600M to be right on?

So we are ready to vote in $400M extra in rural policing?

Hey, I ready paid CPS, I ain't paying for APP. Rural cities are better ready to fork out extra $200-300/year on policing.

Personally, I think once the RCMP are out and the post migration/transition costs are factored out, I would not be surprised if there was an actual cost savings to be found somehow.

The RCMP are hopelessly corrupt and inept and no doubt they are hiding something financially in the books - all in an effort to make them seem like the best choice.

And we would likely hire a lot the same corrupt RCMP when they realize they can take advantage of the situation.

The members on the ground is not where the issue is with the RCMP - its all about the white shirts. Having many of the existing members transfer over is fine - the main source of the corruption issue is higher up.

People still endlessly and pointlessly argue with kerty? That is my takeaway from this thread.
