Natural Gas Patio heaters

I got a natural gas patio heater but I would like to extend the natural gas hose to move it around my patio, does anyone know the maximum you can extend it to? Any recommendations on hoses (I believe it is 3/8). I've also read if you are to extend not to use tape for the connections as the tape degrades but to use pipe sealant - thoughts?

Skip rigid pipe and just get a long flex hose from BBQ store or maybe Superior Propane would have a longer one for connecting a pig to a house.
