Default Getting someone else's tickets question

    I'll try to summarize..

In late Feb my GF got a photo radar ticket in the mail- problem was that the car in the photo was not hers- different plate and car but it was addressed to her at our home address.
Called CPS and they said it was something that would have to be dealt with at a registry (all closed at the time) FFD to last week, another ticket arrives, and then on Monday a third, all for the same car and license plate as the first. Finally went to AMA yesterday where they said that there was nothing they could do other than cancel the registration- they could see where it was registered but couldn't say which location screwed it up. She said she has not seen it before but it seemed to create a bit of a stir in the office. Not sure if it was done on purpose or a number was switched accidentally when entered. Has anyone heard of this happening? Today she got an Email that she would have to go to 2 court dates in Calgary and one in Edmonton???? If this was a registry screwup, why would she have to attend court dates, not only in Calgary but Edmonton too? TIA

If it's not her plate or vehicle, can't you just ignore it? The court summons would be in someone else's name, no?

So the registries have that car attached to her address?

Who is the car registered to? Would also document the time and dates that you had these conversations at the registry.

    What a peculiar situation.

Since photo tickets go to the registered owner, it sounds like they have the girlfriend listed as the registered owner for the other car. Which is why I don’t think they can just ignore this. Probably need a letter from the registry to get the tickets thrown out since the police are probably of the opinion that they are valid

I’d be checking my credit cards and credit report if this was me.

Thanks for the responses... To answer questions

Car seems to be in her name, and the tickets are being sent to our house. It's not close to her car or plate #, it's a data entry error. AMA could see where it was done (and probably who did it) but wouldn't share the info. They cancelled the plate, and even told her the $40 was coming back to her for cancellation of the plate, even though she didn't register it, which is odd.

She had her purse stolen 2 years ago but not sure if she did a credit check after as she cancelled all her cards and got her $$ back for what was charged. I'll advise her to do so.

So she's getting $40 for a plate that's not even hers? Nice hahaha
