Default FFS, let's find ES a water pump

That millenial ExtraSlow has already gone to bed but is probably going to have a very fitful sleep tonight because of the RV trailer water pump issue. He's gonna toss and turn all night and probably kick his wife a few times as well.

So for the late nighter beyond members, let's find him a good quality water transfer pump thingie. It's not going to have to be Aspenite or even Arbour Lake quality, shit the man lives up on the north hill and just a good stone's throw from the NE.

I'm not an RV person at all so I really don't know what he is trying to accomplish but what a nice surprise it would be for him to wake up to a bunch of quality suggestions. Red knobs are probably not a requirement but would certainly be appreciated.

Christ, I think I have one of those drill operated pumps somewhere in my garage - probably used it for our hot tub in the past but now I've got a 110V submersible pump that is a toss it in and forget kind of deal.

So let's get those suggestions out there for the man.

I thought old people went to bed early and got up early. But SD (because apparently we shorten user names now) was up at 11:36pm?

All I want to do is transfer drinking water from my 6-gallon tote on the ground, through a garden hose (drinking water rated), into my trailer water tank, like once a year, at locations without 110v power.

I actually did have a thought, and it would be totally good enough not to have a pump at all if I could securely hook a garden hose up to my reliance branded water jugs, and I could hoist them onto my shoulder and let gravity do th work.
Jugs like this, for you visual learners:

You dudes have a week or more to figure it out, because I'm leaving for camping ina few hours and I may not be checking beyond. SD can start another thread about how mission critical cell service is while camping if he's bored.

This old person is almost never in bed before midnight and am usually up before 6am.

Mission critical cell service, I think it's sort of been beat almost to death already and looking at my upcoming schedule, boredom won't really be a thing.

At least now I have an understanding of what ExtraSlow is trying to do - like I said, I'm not at all an RV person and haven't really done any true camping in at least 20 years.

Transferring ExtraSlow's water, jury rig a platform off of the side of your trailer or near your trailer and devise a system to let gravity do it's magic while you sit back and enjoy a beer. Better to use expendable muscle power to drink a beer instead of holding up 5-10 gallons of water.

Need to see if I can thread a hose onto that jug I guess. I've been a trailer person for a decade now, and I've never tried to do this, and it's not really important even now, but it's something that could come in handy, maybe.

Don't over think it, just remember the balance of a beer in your hand versus letting gravity do it's sweet, sweet thing.

Couldn't you just drill out the threads of the jug and then tap the threads to be the same as a hose

Make sure you strip it down and degrease the entire pump assembly if you plan on using it for drinking water as it's not rated for potable (likely due to the lubricants). I'd recommend a 12V diaphragm pump for that application if the drill pump doesn't work out.

I tend to over engineer stuff, but if it were me, and transferring water was something I had to do more than a couple of times a year, I would install a second 12v potable waterpump in my trailer, with the output going to the fresh tank, and the input going to a newly installed flange

    https://www.amazon.ca/JR-Products-16...22790423&psc=1

Then you just have to put a short hose between the flange and water bucket, and flip a switch.

This is an awesome idea, and would totally be the best way to do this, but like I said, I've needed this exactly zero times so far in a decade, and I may not even need it now, so I'm not putting a new hole in the side of my rig and spending several hundred bucks on equipment to accomplish this.

I tend to under engineer stuff and think that the flange is just inviting people to pee in it.

that flange is already in the trailer for the city water, just hook up a T with a valve that goes to a T in the tank filler tube, probably like $5 in parts... could even get fancy and put a shut off in the tank hose so you can have the pump inside along side the already existing trailer water pump.... if you wanted to gte real fancy you could probably even use more Ts and valves to plumb right in to the existing pump and switch it back and forth with a couple of valves

EDIT, just found this, Jim knows what's up

This is actually something i should probably do, i keep my trailer our at an acreage that has only well water so i always bring a few jugs of city water with me.. this way i could get a giant jug and fill it on the truck, dont need to carry it at all

It's not the size that matters, it's the taste it leaves in your mouth.

That seems decidedly un-baller... Did you at least get a silver one?
