Started as outfitting my house, but now have gotten into collecting Mid Century Modern (mostly Danish) furniture. Its a battle to get anything good on Kijiji/Facebook marketplace (basically have to message the person within the first 10 mins of it being posted) and buying from stores or shipping can get quite expensive.

Last chair I got was on Kijiji... a dealer beat me to it and then decided it was too much work to restore so I got it from them. Its a very well known desinger and manufacturer (Finn Juhl-France and Sons) so I figured it was worthwhile and could pay off if I sold it later on.
With the help of a friend we stripped the paint, rebuilt 3 supports that were previously redone poorly and now the chair is off for new upholstery and beech frame is being tinted and oiled. (I think its oil being used, could be a varnish)
Black frame picture is the condition I got the chair in (black isnt original, so it had to go) and then second picture is stripped down and sanded, but still with original upholstery. As much as I wanted to keep it looking 100% original, beech wood is an odd color that can turn pinkish after time and most of my other furniture is teak or rosewood so I decided to have it tinted.

If the chair was listed in a shop redone the retail would be ~$3k and I am currently into it for around $1,500 so not doing too badly.

Starbucks you are here collection mugs, don't overly care for Starbucks but when we take a trip or I travel for work, I'll pick up a mug for the city/state/country.

Just a little travel memento and good to have coffee mugs in general, probably have around 15-20 mugs.

Some cool ideas in here! I like to collect Mustang related items, diecasts, posters, cards etc from all years but mostly Fox body things. Also have a Link (Legend of Zelda) collection including paintings, figures, games, tattoo etc.

I've slowed on collecting things. Watches were a fairly decent and expensive hobby that I've almost fully stopped doing, due to not being able to wear them much.

Funko pops. I'm a huge music and movie buff so I dont have a ton, but around 100 funko pops related mostly to movies and music. I havent bought one since Christmas.

Signed memorabilia. This is my vice. I havent bought any in a couple years now, but I have things from a back 2 the future hoverboard signed by the main cast, to Jaws and Ghostbusters and a signed Led Zeppelin guitar.

I'm slowly starting to get back into messing with cars again. Just bought a bike, so ill be working on that doing little things to it but I guess that's a hobby and not collecting, unless you count that i have 3 cars and a bike....collecting vehicles lol

    Thats my life story.

As a kid, I collected coins; mostly american pennies. My great grandmother gave me a huge amount of pennies and I turned the trip to sorting them and trying to find the missing ones. I still have a big collection of coins, but they're all in a box that hasn't been opened in decades now.
Currently I collect old mechanical things (other than Porsche 944s). I have a cool Swiss music box from the mid 1800's, and of course a classic Singer sewing machine.

I agree. I have a chair that looks nothing like that.

I have an insane amount of hockey cards (mostly 90's and early 00's) that have been in boxes for 10+ years. Couple decent cards buried in there:

Also have quite the memorabilia and autograph collection... need to get it all sorted and displayed somehow.

Whiskies, especially the IBs. Look for them every time I travel and can't drink them fast enough. Probably enough to last me a couple decades if I stop buying today.

Thanks! I figure if the items have lasted 60-70 years already, chances are my family wont wreck them either. This one is made in the late 50's early 60's.

    @88CRX

I used to collect anything card related, and have a few things signed myself. I should probably look at getting rid of some of this stuff

I collect bourbon as well as batch 001 craft whiskies. With the exception of Rig Hand Distillery (who I guess isn't a real batch 001 anyways... crooks) I have a good portion of Alberta and Saskatchewan distillery's first batches. I also collect local distillery's special edition spirits so I guess its not all just whiskey. I probably have around 60-70 bottles that I would consider part of the collection and not just regular liquor.

Is tequila considered a collection if I drink it? I guess I collect the bottles. I also collect pocket knives as well, but lately it’s Deejo Knives. I received one as a gift and I buy them whenever I see them, this is what I have on me today. Name: F9C1D172-130A-46BE-8E78-F86E03636B30.jpeg

@JRSC00LUDE I missed out on their Single Malt lottery so I ended up with a batch 004 of that but I got a batch 001 of the Rye Whiskey and of the Chocolate Vanilla Single Cask. I also have about 8-10 bottles of their different spirits and I collect the pin up girl posters they put out for them. I think there are a few new ones I am missing but they are a staple in my basement.

I forgot to ever pick my single malt up and it got sold haha

One of the owners is my friend, HE doesn't even have one. I want to find one and buy it as a future present.

I don't really consider myself a collector, but seems that the wife has spoiled me over the years with more than a few Lego gifts.

So much so that one of my COVID projects was setting up some display shelves and lighting to show them off.

Guess you could call this a collection. Pics from April so a little out of date, sold one and bought another.
