Default Recommendations on a PDR shop

Did a quick search but couldn't find anything specific.

My vehicle was hit a few weeks back during the hail storm. I've processed my claim and had the car assessed by an insurance appraiser. I am told that it's all going to be PDR work and re-doing the paint protection film on the front end. I've never been through a hail claim before so I'm looking to get your input on:

    1. Where the best place is to bring the car and if there are any shops to stay away from.
    2. Since the repairs are only PDR (no paint work required), do I really need to care what shop does it? Can you really mess up a PDR job?

Just want to make sure the car's in good hands. Appreciate any advice before I get her booked in.

I used ECO Dent a couple years back after getting pummeled with hail. They had great reviews back then and did an awesome job.

I have no input on which dent place is the best but just think, every place is probably busy af up the nuts in back logs of vehicles sitting in the back lot probably 25+ vehicles, and all their dent guys are all over-worked and under the gun with some crappy deadlines by insurance. So quality may lack right now.

Well imagine if instead of writing that letter to the editor, she just posts on a car forum for car enthusiasts. That's Kritafo.

I was thinking the same. For that reason I’m in no rush to get my car booked in. Going to give it a few months for the rush to die down.

Plus, there are no rentals vehicles available right now for the time my car goes in

Thanks thanks. Naw I’m washed up. The user name is just for legacy purpose. Hopefully one day I’ll be a recognized name on here too.

Alternate universe suggestion. Take the cheque and DO NOT fix it. Money in the bank baby.

^ I looked at this option but the payout was about $3,000 which is not enough considering the reduced resale value and never getting hail coverage again. Risky especially living in Calgary and parked outside on my driveway most the time.

Truth, you gotta look at your situation. I've had a lot (like really a lot) of hail claims in my life, and I've done repair, write off and non-repair and just take the cheque. Actually equal numbers of each.

Bumping this thread - I have harassed TomcoPDR for years but he's understandably tied up with projects.

I went to DENTOLOGIST and was 11/10 impressed with the work, price and experience. Wish I had some before and after photos, but my S4 had some bad dents along creases in the hood, along the door panel and some smaller ones throughout the rest of the body. Paul got them sorted and I now own what looks to be the cleanest avant in Calgary. Absolutely recommend DENTOLOGIST if you guys have PDR needs. He also knows Tomco and spoke highly of him!

Thanks @zipdoa beautiful post... yeah sorry I’m a burnt out old hag in my trade. You know every welding shop, large dealership mechanic shop, Bodyshops, or a Smitty’s restaurant with that over qualified 50yo washed up engineer as a restaurant manager, they always has one of those grumpy old man over stayed his industry and just waiting for the swing of pendulum to bump him off the grid; but till then he’s still hanging on his dear life until an industry really doesn’t need their old school ways.

    Default Best Paintless Dent Repair?

Looking for the best PDR shop in town, for a black GMC Yukon with a small door dent and scuff. Who have you used and been happy with?

Another shout out for Ecodentworks. Had them PDR some door dings this week and everything looks good as new. Managed to fit me in same week as well.
