Thanks for all the solid suggestions and advise. I suppose I already half expect to not sleep but I also don't sleep much as it is so I think we will be good. I think wife will have a harder time since she loves her sleep but that's where I plan to step-in and let her be able to sleep through the night. All depends on what I got going on the following day work-wise so occasionally may not be able to do it but for the most part should be okay. I did those duties with our pup when he was a baby too as we were training him to only go out by taking him out every 2 hours going incrementally as he got older.

I am not looking forward to nasty diaper changes though. Plus we are supposed to have a boy so definitely not looking forward to getting peed on the face. Haha.

Do they actually work? My wife is convinced they would just blow off in the stream and you'd end-up with piss on you anyway, but I think they would serve their intended purpose. We only have a girl so I'll never know.

The true key for boys is a wipe warmer.
You the second a cold wipe touches their butt you can guarantee a pee.

    I've heard the opposite.

Tbh wait until you find out Daipers aren’t anywhere close to the hard part of being a parent.

Heck as a parent of a potty training kid, they are borderline desireable.

All you need to do is undo the diaper, blow a little air on his thingy, then cover with the diaper. Then you do everything else. Worked for me and I never got peed on. Of course this was over 20 years ago, so my memory might be a little off.

    Best of luck!!!

We had pretty good luck potty training. Did cold turkey, and planned it for when we could hang around the house for a couple days. Just get rid of the diapers, and walk around bottomless for a couple days straight. Worked like a charm.

I think this is pretty frowned upon outside the church

It’s been a struggle for us. At least a few accidents a week still and always at inopportune times.

I took a month off for both kids (although the second one was at the begining of covid so that doesn't really count). There is ALOT to get figured out in that first little bit so I would highly highly recommend taking at least 2 weeks off. Also people are going to want to come over the second you pull into your garage so its your job handle that. Having visitors in that first couple days will be even more exhausting and overwhelming than you could imagine so you need to either run interferance when they do come over to keep the visits short or be the one to ask everyone give you a few days first.

Another thing to remember is that your wife is going to be different after the birth in the sense of emotions and her thinking process. Shes going to undergo a quick and massive hormone change that could flip her upside down for a little bit until things level out so just understand that if you see that change she can't control it and doesn't even recognize it, but she won't be like that forever. A good thing to do is to talk about post partum depression and anxiety BEFORE baby gets there. Establish clear lines of communication ahead of time so if she starts to go that way after the baby comes that she doesn't think of it as a taboo subject. I know tons of women who suffered from PPD and they have said that they felt alone and they were the only ones to ever deal with it. It wasn't until they were on the other side of it that they recognized how bad it was and that its super common. Hopefully your wife does not go through that but being candid about the subject before hand is extremely important. Once baby is there make sure you are paying extra attention for signs of it as well as you might notice it before or she might try and hide it. Do some reading on what to look for. Hopefully none of that will apply to you guys but it never hurts to be prepared.

And my final piece of advice is for when the kids get older. Train them to either take blame for your farts or blame them all on mom. I've got a good spread between the two kids that have me covered in any situations and its been clutch. Plus its funny to blame farts on mom.

It really is crazy how time flies. My kid was born in March and he just got his learners license the other day. 0-14 feels like light speed.

Take everything that anyone says with a grain of salt because things that work for them may not work for you or your lifestyle.

    Good luck @shakalaka

Trade you a potty training toddler for a teenage girl?
