+100 on routine. My daughter was a creature of habit and if we missed the nap window even a little bit then we were fucked and she wasn't sleeping. But like @ExtraSlowlover said, some kids just don't nap.

Haha. That is another one, however I’d rather call an ND a doctor vs a chiropractor. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
Shall we talk about Osteopaths? I’ve never been but interested as they’re not just spine focused.

I saw an Osteo a few years back. Good dude, worked out at my gym. Basically a mix of a chiro, physio, massage therapist. No Dr titles IIRC, and you come out feeling you've had the shit beat out of you. I can't say it works, but it was covered by benefits, so I tried it.This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote

Osteopaths are awesome! It's like a super massage. I'd say 75% Massage 25% Chiro - They can adjust your spine but I never get mine too. Just work out the kinks on whatever muscle is acting up.This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote

A 5 month old should definitely nap, no question about it. Should still be on 2 naps a day at least. Google a few sleep schedules and adjust as suits your kid. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
It's legit. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
My oldest would nap 2x a day for max 30 mins.
Youngest would nap 2+ hours.
Not sure there is any topic more controversial than “how much and when should your kid sleep”
That topic is basically Gaza

As a rule, they should nap right after they are born and wake up at an age they are ready to move out...This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote

Our kid hasn't napped during the day properly since day one. And this hasn't changed even after chiro. To get him to sleep my wife literally has to rock him to sleep in her arms and keep him there the whole time and even then during the day naps are more like cat naps.
Same thing at night, except once in a while you can put him down and he stays on his back for a relatively short period of time before he stirs and moves around. He stirs and moves around through out the night (thereby ruining our sleep) mostly every night without fail. And we have to feed him at least 2 times in the middle of the night as sometimes he's stirred himself enough to be more or less awake and then cry presumably due to hunger. After being fed, takes 30 mins or so for him to fall back asleep (similar sleep of stirring and moving).

We're in a similar boat. If you put her down on a flat surface, and she's awake, it's almost instant crying. Any kind of nap has to be rocked to sleep. It's making nights rough, when each feeding is 90-120 minutes awake.

Are you guys putting the work to prep the area?
White noise.
Heat.
Pre warm the bassinet, put a magic bag down
Rock child to sleep. Shushing.
Swaddle
Put down gently.
Cover with blanket.
Pray.
Sometimes instant wake. Then get ready to hold child and rock until next feed (watch movies during this period of time on your phone etc).
Sometimes 3 hrs of sleep is the result.
Sometimes 3 hrs of rocking/walking/shifting is what you will get.
Thats how she goes boys.
Daytime naps in the stroller or in the chariot are an option too. Gives them that motion they crave, and the parent some fresh air and exercise. Also, revolutionary thought, but crying is natural and dangerous to babies. You can let them cry a bit, and sometimes they need to do that to settle themselves down.
It's great if the kid sleeps on the schedule that the parent imagines is "optimal" but I think that's pretty rare. Kids are shockingly resilient and probably need less intervention in many cases, not more. Obvs its easy for me to say that now my kids are older, harder to practice yourself in the moment.
