Take the kid to a physio if you're all bent out of shape on a chiro. They'll do the same thing.

Honestly, this sounds like an irrational excuse from a normally rational person, due to the circumstances they're in with their baby... You're willing to take the anecdotal experiences of strangers online (no offense to anyone), over the advice of a known Dr (online mind you, hahaha) and more importantly, the advice from your entire family... of doctors. Surely you have to believe your entire family of doctors would have your best interests at heart, and they're not be simply parroting their superiority of "chiros aren't real doctors"...This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. I've been in your shoes (our first slept through the night a grand total of 3 times in the first 18 months!), where you get to the point of desperation, but you have maintain a rational head when it comes to things like this.
I'm just trying to understand why people are so interested in medicating ( for lack of a better word ) a child who is exhibiting normal behaviour.
Sucky, but normal.
Honestly shak your best course of action is share the load as much as you can.
You help out
Your mom help help
Her mom help out
Your cousins's lesbian lover helps out
You hire someone to help out.
Do all of the above and often, and everyone will be better of for it.
I maintain my original recommendation, send your wife to a nice spa in Maui for a week and you take care of the child and the details.

Yes, get her out of the house without the kid while you handle shit. Send her to a hotel in Banff for two nights at least. You are a strong capable man and we believe in you. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote

But speaking from my own experience, our daughter had torticullus and the infant tumor which was not caught by any pediatricians or doctors. She had bad reflux and awful sleep and we took her in (at maybe 3-4 weeks) and the chiro said 'Have you noticed she almost exclusively turns one way when sleeping'. In our sleepless state, we had not.
I am glad we took her to Chiro and Physio. We took our second daughter there who had none of the above problems, they assessed her and that was it. Said she was good to go.
What's the real risk of taking her to get looked at?! Nothing really, but in our case had we not there could have been real problems.
The first paper in that Scholar search is a case study on posterior rib fracture post chiro... but there does seem to be some evidence that it works for colic. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote

Baby chiro is nothing like adult chiro, its essentially massage and physio would do the same thing. Absolutely do what you feel is best for your family but it made a WORLD of a difference for our first one, not as much for the second but she didn't have the same fussiness the first did. My first was extremely fussy with putting him down but after chiro he was able to settle in much quicker, he was wayyyy less gassy and overall just less miserable. Between chirco and gripe water thats what helped keep our sanity. We also learned a ton from her about developmental reflexes and just general child behavior which as new parents was extremely valuable.
I can see how people could think adult chiro is cooky (I personally don't) but baby chiro is so vastly different I don't think they should be called the same thing. They aren't twisting and turning and cracking anything so really there is no harm in trying. Its quite litterally some gentle wiggling (much like you're probably already doing to work gas out) and some focused massage.
As others have said, every kid is different and everyone has their own path to parenting, but given your issues with fussy baby I think its at least worth having a conversation with a baby chiro/physio to see what they do and understand the process instead of simply relying on a friend who has never heard of an entire stream of a treatment.

I agree with this 100% and you'll be in the room the entire time, they don't do anything you wouldn't agree with. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
Haha. This was on my Instagram feed this morning and sent it to my wife. Her response was, don’t want a second one unless you want me to check into a mental hospital. Lol, while funny, almost feels that way sometimes for sure. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
Yea we do all those DIY massages and what not to help with the gas and from that perspective the chiro doesn’t seem anything out of the ordinary. Instead just seems like someone who’s a little more experienced in those massages giving it a go. The wife snd I are going to seriously discuss this tonight and make a call on whether we at least wanna give it one shot or not. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote

That’s the place where we were scheduled but ultimately ended up canceling.
5 stars from 260 google reviews. Like I said... I think you're safe to at least get an assessment. If they were fucking kids up you know parents would review bomb themThis quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
have you tried "bicycle legs" to help with the gas? haha Thats what my wife called it at least.
Agree on the bicycle legs or a few cycles into "happy baby pose" for your little guy. Helped with our daughter the few times we noticed she was gassy and cranky. Talk to them and make a game out of it - make funny faces, etc. You want them to have fun with it and want you to do it. No go and squeeze those toots out!

Does that work on adults too? Asking for a friend.
Booked the Chiro for tomorrow morning appointment. I guess might as well give it a go at this point - have tried everything else too. As long as it's not dangerous or harmful in any way , I am willing to give it a go.
On a separate note...notice after work our puppy's been acting weird and I start looking closely and see crusty, scab like gatherings inside both his ears. Like wtf...he had been scratching by there lately and licking his paw but I didn't think much of it other than him being annoying, but now that I see this makes me feel like an idiot..poor guy. Anyway booked an emergency vet appointment for 9AM so before taking the new baby to Chiro, have to take the first baby to vet. Just hope it's nothing serious...doesn't seem like it based on some googling that I did.
Ah yes. The joys of infancy.
I will say a few of things:
Breastfeeding is crucial
Swaddling is crucial
Sleep training is real - use a staggered approach.
Bonus - breastfeeding often doesn’t work because initial latching didn’t take.
Story: our first born was very hard to breastfeed early, and my wife was suffering. Suffering physically which lead to mental. The baby was too shallow on the nipple and caused immense pain where we needed corticosteroids to treat. Can’t breastfeed then.
We went to a few places and doctors even recommended a tounge clip on my infant to latch better. I kept my wife supported and motivated to never quit and we finally found a specialist (not a doctor) and she properly latched the kid. In a week smooth sailing, No medical procedure, no medicine. Baby was thrilled.
The side effect with proper latch my wife’s milk production skyrocketed. This carried into the second baby, and she needed to pump prior to feeding the second or he’d puke. We ended up donating gallons of milk and helping a lot of poor little babies who didn’t have access to milk.
I’m so huge on breastfeeding if possible. It also burns a shit load of calories and gets mom back into fighting shape in no time.
Just watch the food she’s eating as it affects baby with gas. Clean eating also directly affects milk and her own body, mind and depressions.
PPD is real.

This is an underappreciated benefit. The lady can lose all that pregnancy weight pretty quick when she's got thousands of calories a day getting sucked out of her. Probably nature's way of creating siblings since the mom gets skinny but the tits stay huge. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote

Kid just did not want to sleep last night. Wasn't crying, but wasn't sleeping (4 weeks old).
Ended up just watching TV all night with kiddo on my chest until she passed out.
I'm sleeping like a teenager. Up til 7am, then sleeping til noon.
