    Default Photo Radar in Saskatchewan

Buddy of mine received a photo radar ticket in SK. 121 in an 80 zone. Almost $600.

Anyone know if not paying registered owner tickets results in a warrant in SK?

Also, it must have been a construction zone for a number like that?

The R.O. is required to appear if contested so will be liable for non-payment like anywhere else, I would assume a warrant would be issued but if it were me and he's from OOP I'd just say fuck it and pay it if/when he gets pinched down the road.

Ya he's from Alberta, best I could gather is that the registered owner tickets wont show up in AB, but they could try to go after him through the CRA apparently.

Geez, like I said, I don't know conclusively - but I think it'll show up upon registration renewal. Shitty deal

Is it that fixed speed camera outside of Moose Jaw where it drops to 80?

SKR should really just pay the ticket if he doesn't want to be an outlaw in the beautiful province of Saskatchewan.

SKR knows to mind his manners when it comes to the speed limit between Maple Creek and Regina.

Ya, but keep the caffeine levels up so you don't slip into a coma from all the exciting scenery along the way.

As for the OP, the SK government found "your friend" to send the ticket over so that leads me to believe that the provinces are sharing info in order to "serve & collect". I'm guessing this isn't going to go away.

    Not on tickets.

Nor do they communicate with the CBSA for re-entry into canada. I had $600 from BC unpaid for more than 6 years with no issues with any government org. Interacted many times with each during that time. I ended up paying them when the collections agency tracked me down.

    That definitely changed.

I have BC tickets that transferred over to my AB abstract. Surprised me too because it was 1.5 years later.

Find a traffic lawyer in SK and make it go away?

Not helpful, but tell your friend he is an idiot. Not only are there multiple signs warning of the photo radar installation, there are trailer mounted active signs saying photo radar ahead. You would have to be asleep at the wheel to miss them.

Damn, that sucks. I know at the time, all agencies would claim they passed the info on but in my case it never happend. Maybe i was the outlier. Either way, OP's "friend" needs to pony up it seems.

I remember that route heading to Regina.

My Escort 9500 kept beeping 'Laser' on a random junction and it was always the same crossing.

Back on topic: COVID is making revenues short so all municipalities are milking efforts to collect.

Except that drive puts anyone to sleep. I guess they only have one camera and rotate which side of the highway it is on. I blew through it heading to MJ and thankfully never saw a ticket, and learned from the dealer I was visiting not to speed on the way back.

It also wasn't on waze so I flagged it, but still wasn't on another visit a few months later.

Most drivers in Canada are unaware that penalties from breaking traffic rules outside their hometown can go on their home record, except in British Columbia, Quebec and Nunavut. These three provinces are exempted from sharing driving records with other regions according to the 1990 Canadian Driver License Compact (CDLC) Agreement, which means that driving offences in these provinces will not be recorded if you don’t live there and vice-versa. However, Criminal Code convictions would be valid in all regions even if the offence was in another state.

The demerit points and the severity of the penalty and the sharing of records within each province vary upon agreement. Quebec and Ontario share certain documents within the CDLC, outside that there are other agreements made with international alliance such as the agreement between Ontario with New York and Michigan, Quebec with Maine and New York.

According to the Ontario Ministry of Transportation, only certain out-of-province demerit points such as speeding, disobeying traffic signals, etc. will be added to the Ontario license.

When an offender does not pay an out-of-province ticket, BC agencies have the authority to go after the ticket holder while other Provinces can go through The Canada Revenue Agency and “take the amount from income tax refunds and GST rebates”, said McMurchy, spokesman for Saskatchewan Government Insurance.

If you have an unpaid out-of-province ticket, your home province cannot prevent the renewal of registration or license as they would have in your home province. For example, Manitoba police do not have the authority to penalize a driver from Ontario in Manitoba, but can only be detained by the police.

The driver with an out-of-province ticket can be led to detention when he gets to that Province where he got the ticket. Due to this different agreement and varied penalty, many citizens often get pulled-over or end up in custody without being sure of the consequences or the causes.

The CATCH here is that this is an RO ticket and not a ticket assigned to a person. Going through the CRA for a vehicle owner is not likely going to happen.

If you were pulled over and cited, thats a different case.
