For those of you who may get anxiety thinking about aneurysm rupture, the chances are about 0.008-0.01%.
Saw it earlier today. Mythbuster was a good show and he passed way too young.

I have a close friend have one. Luckily his wife was home and called 911. He spent 6 months in hospital and hes still dealing with the effects of it now - this was 4 years ago. Cant drive anymore, cant work. Its a real shame because the guy was super nice, he even ran his own business. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote

They are pretty rare. My wife had one last December. They operated on her before it ruptured. Went in through the artery in her arm, all the way to the brain and pumped some crazy glue on one end to block off the vein. They couldn't glue the other side as they were worried the glue would spread into other veins, so they called in the ophthalmologist plastic surgeon who cut into her eyelid to get access to the artery behind her eye and found a different route, deployed a coil and that blocked it all off and it should just collapse on it's own.
All this was done with an interventional radiologist sitting beside her guiding the probe and 2 neurosurgeons looking at a big screen tv that was giving constant x-rays to show where they were and how to get to where they needed to go.
pretty slick stuff if you can get to it before they rupture.
Holy shit! This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
That's the craziest thing I've read in a while. Glad to hear they caught it in time.
You can get a CT scan or MRI to see if you have an aneurysm, but that isn't really practical (or healthy in the case of the CT) to do with any regularity. There are probably other ways to detect them that I don't know about too. The aneurysm itself is of course more common than a rupture. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Avoiding things like going on roller coasters, extremely vigorous exercise, lots of caffeine, blowing your nose really hard, etc. are things you can do but that is more for people who know they have one, as that is quite restrictive to everyday life.
Scary stuff for sure but thankfully very rare.
Wow. I didn't realize he was actually an engineer and that he made the Energizer Bunny and Geoff from The Craig Ferguson Show. That's some Hollywood shit, right there!
How did she know she had one? What were her symptoms? This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
She had a "whooshing sound" in her left ear that was matched up with her heartbeat. She was pregnant at the time, mentioned it to her doctor who booked her in for an MRI......which took over 1 year to get. She pumped out a baby (luckily that didn't blow it), had the MRI which saw the oversized vein, then she got booked in the with neurosurgeon for a consult and more testing and then the surgery. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Man, I knew he did a bunch of the Star Wars prequel stuff, but today I found out he created the Baby Yoda animatronic.
