I just got the invite today...signed up in October. So it's on the way!

My neighbor said it's substantially better than Xplornet satellite internet.

Looks like a piece of cake so far...
Did you get a roof mount too? I may just make a mount for the roof install...first I have to get up on the roof and see where the app says it'll see the best signal.

FYI the Beta is open to the public now. If you live in the target areas you can order a beta kit.

With rural locations you have the option to enter lat/long if it fails to find an address.

@tirebob Pretty excited eh? Post some speed tests when you have it setup. Also in the app go Support > Statistics for more nerdy information.

Will any of you be sharing the installation process?

Stick on stand. Point south. Plug into wan port on router. I think there is an optional FOV app involved.

Okay... The actual system install is a piece of cake! Pop it up, run the wire where you want the power source and router to go, plug it in, it positioned itself and up and running 10 minutes later... First speed test came back 140mb down and 30mb up! Latency is 45ms.

The only shit thing, Trying to do this on a snowy roof and I put my knee through a plastic roof vent... Fuck my life! The local hardware store didn't have one the right size so I just screwed a piece of plywood down with some silicone for now. Ugggggh... Any roofing friends can help a brother out? Haha!

That is awesome (except the roof vent, that sucks balls). Welcome to the 21st century.

I am a little giddy actually... Even when I was in the city I never had speeds like this. Always lived in areas with old networks etc. I feel like I am evolving.

It's not the size that matters, it's the taste it leaves in your mouth.

Curious how this has performed in snowstorms (and other storms). Unlimited High-speed internet is literally one of the only reasons why I haven't moved to an acreage lol

He's owned it for less than a week.

@ExtraSlow - yes, I realize that tirebob has had it only a week. Jacky4566 has had the system since the beginning of December 2020, which means it would've been used over the big dump of snow on Dec 22nd.

Yeah it was $700 plus tax for the gear and then $129/month so not cheap initially but Xplornet satellite I was paying $150/month for 150gb capped and this is unlimited and speeds like 25 to 30 times faster.

Oh i definitely see the value for your primary residence, just not so sure now if it's worth it for me to drop that on my brother's place which is really just a weekend home in the summer.

The killer app for me is that the lockdowns have no timeline to end and poor internet quality is the only thing keeping me from spending weeks at the time at my lakehouse.

@killramos Sign up again but use the plus code for your property location rather than the town/area. I signed up saying Water Valley and never got an answer then signed up again with a different e-mail but used the plus code and got the invite in just a few hours. I told my neighbours and they redid it again doing the same thing and all got invites within days.

I redid it last night with good s coordinates so hopefully I’ll get something soon.

I’m a fair bit further south so maybe not in their target band?
