Who the hell is using cash? I mean, asides from it being 2020 and debit/credit cards used everywhere, even the few things I preferred using cash for, I stopped in April because of Covid

2nd vaccine trial paused, this time it's Johnson & Johnson.

Saw this yesterday. I guess it's good and bad news. Good that the phase 3 testing process is working as intended to catch these, but bad to see a setback on a viable vaccine.

I haven't been keeping up with all of the vaccines, but the first one that paused their phase 3, didn't they restart it relatively quickly? Or is it still on hold?

It's on hold in the US still. Restarted everywhere else.

I bet this J+J hold will be shortlived.

Well looks like our cash is a carrier.
Vaccine pause is a good thing tbh, means they are following the protocols properly and taking the time to look at any potential issues. It's quite common for vaccines.

With it being a singular patient they'll likely investigate it and then continue within a week or so. Its if another person has similar issues that things take much longer to determine the cause.

In regards to science and statistics. What are the pro maskers take on the latest from the CDC saying that 96% of positive covid tests lately are from people who identify as religiously wearing masks. ??

To me it is anecdotally confirming what I said about masks to begin with. It's a false sense of security that is causing people to ignore social distance guidelines, and those are far more important than masks if the goal is to limit spread.

Who is wearing a mask in public to protect themselves?

I'm pretty sure it's only the ones dumb enough to wear them walking alone outside our driving alone in a car. People a couple of standard deviations away from an embarrassingly low, average IQ.

According to the way most people act in public, it would appear the vast majority consider a mask protection for themselves.

Mask protect others from you is the primary goal. It also protect others in case of droplets while talking hit a surface that didn't get clean up in time before other touches it.

It does not protect you from people who are NOT wearing masks or social distancing. It may lessen the impact but it won't guarantee you wont get infected.

There's no guarantee except lock down. And we don't want lock down and lack of vaccine, masks is next best thing, especially for people who doesn't trust 1st round of vaccine or vaccine in general.

With more 2nd infections being reported now, this will be around for seasons and seasons until majority of population is vaccinated.

And the upside is, now most non-masking wearing cultures are wearing them, other diseases that spread the same way are lessen. Australia has only 10% of flu death since COVID measures are in place compared to same time last year.

I used to think they are stupid but if they want to wear a mask and not take them off til they get back home where they can do proper cleaning regiment, that ain't that bad.

Like I said, I know what their intention is. I'm simply commenting on what it appears most other people seem to think masks are for.

And with the latest CDC data, it appears like masks are not fulfilling their intention at all.

If that's the logic you want to debate, I don't think I have much to offer you.

Please share this CDC data, I think it's an interpretation issue.

Again, given how Americans despise masks, given mask wearing is a group effort, just because mask wearers getting infected isn't a very good indication to discourage mask wearing. IE if the infected are coming from area where mask wearing indoor is under 70%, that's understandable.

At this point, I would rather discuss about effectiveness of vaccine but here we are.

whoa whoa whoa, asking for data. That sounds like a leftist TDS libtard thing to expect. Don'tcha know they'd rather just point to invisible studies.

There's no convincing him of anything else. The message has always been that wearing a mask helps reduce your chance of spreading it to others if you happen to be sick. 9 people wear masks, one person doesn't that is infected, everyone catches it and OMG SEE MASKS DON'T WORK is their justification.

Just spent two weeks in Toronto. Mask use is 99.8%, every single person is wearing one. Even outside, mostly masked up. Cases are up huge. So is it the increase in testing? Seems we did a better job at attacking the first wave of Covid without masks. Headed for another lockdown as sadly this proved to be more effective.

Private gatherings are still an issue. There are also restaurants defying public health orders.

SK is also reducing private gathering size.

End of the day, mask is about keep these people who are at this gatherings spreading to others that didn't.
