Didn't take much to convince my parents that Telus Internet is a bad deal for long term customers.

Yes that is a horrible deal. Do they have fibre in thier area?
That belongs in the overpay for shit flex thread. We’ll wait for the image to reupload.

It's almost a good thing Telus doesn't have fibre in my area. That way I can stick with the devil I know rather than be tempted by the devil I don't.
It sure is always funny talking to groups like Shaw or Telus.
My 2 year contract was up with Shaw and it was a 600 plan for $94.50 a month all in.
Called them and they said they can't do any better but they can give me 1000 for $99 before taxes. So I repeated myself in asking about pricing and plans and then I was told they can do the 500 plan for $99 a month before taxes.
So I said why would I pay the same for less? And then they said well how about $50 in credits if you sign up for the 1000 package. I said how about $100? And they said best they can do is $75.
You know damn well they play that card to everyone and people think ooooh sweet sure. lol.
Now I am on a 1000 plan for $99 before tax and have $75 of credit being applied.
@e31 , here's what I pay for telus internet, and I don't think I even had that great of a deal.
EDIT removed pic.
Pay $62.19/mo for telus internet 150 FTTH.
Anyone who pays more than that should call and ask to cancel and talk to loyalty and see what you can do. If you aren't threatening to cancel every 24 months, you get screwed on these things.

$62.xx all in after taxes monthly and I don't have to call anyone, ever.
Lightspeed has been the best decision.
Threats that they suck, outages, shoddy, etc.
Pfff went with them just prior to pandemic and had one outage since then.
Paid out the modem in a few months vs Telus or Shaw packages.
My only complaint with them is not giving me the referral discounts. Have had multiple people switch that I know.
This is the way. They’ve never increased the price of my grandfathered plan. 49.95$ for 300mbit for the past 5+ years and I’ve never once had to talk to anyone or call in (aside from when I moved)This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote

"Offered Internet 300 for $59.99 per month with $200 bill credit (free upgrade modem)." this seems like the plan they are handing out and cheapest

Well imagine if instead of writing that letter to the editor, she just posts on a car forum for car enthusiasts. That's Kritafo.

$10/mth for 1.5 gigs.
My 2-year Fibre+ 750 plan is ending this summer. Currently paying $75+tax. Just got a call asking me to renew on Fibre+ 1GB for $85+tax. Is this a good deal?
No Telus Fibre in my neighborhood.
With your options, yes, it is. I pay $20 more for the same plan. (no telus service beyond some lame 20mb plan at my location, had me by the balls)This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
I can eat more hot wings than you.
Our Telus 1-gigabit fibre 2yr contract for $72/mo ended this month and was going up to $148/mo so I took a shot at getting them to play ball instead of switching over to Rogers. I'd seen some posts on RFD claiming they had success but you had to go through a few levels of CS to get a good deal.
Started off by telling them that Rogers had offered me $60/mo + $250 bill credit for gigabit. Loyalty rep could only offer $85/mo + $250 bill credit or downgrade our service, I said no thanks, I'll just cancel my service then. She transferred me to the "Specialist Loyalty" department who offered me $75/mo +$250 credit plus a $10/mo discount as my wife has a cell phone on Koodo. I told them they were close but not quite there, he went off to check with his "team leader" and came back with an offer of $58/mo (incl. the $10 Koodo discount) +$250 credit which I happily accepted.
Honestly shocked that Telus agreed to a rate that low on a renewal.
I leveraged cellphoneman when rogers bought out shaw, and got a rogers 1.5g plan for $62/mo + $400 bill credit for 2 years. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
