I'd still take telus fibre over shaw's upgrade 100% of the time. It's just more stable and reliable based one the one place I lived with fibre. But it definitely comes down to price, I wouldn't pay double for Telus over Shaw

My Telus contract ends in Dec and I just got an e-mail from them with an offer to renew for 2 more years at same price. They'll bump me up to the next speed tier and guarantee there will be no price increases for duration of contract.

This sounds too good to be true as I have a lot of monthly credits on this contract. I have to call in to take advantage of the offer so we'll see how it goes tomorrow.

If it includes my monthly credits that will mean gigabit plan with unlimited data for $55/month.
Were you able to renew with the credits?

Have a buddy who's with Shaw switching all three of thier cellphones over to Shaw Mobile. Seems like an incredible value, and a compelling reason to go with Shaw for home services too.

I think I remember reading Shaw’s latest quarter showing flat to revenue growth. All with no massive fibre investment like Telus has done.

I think I said this before but, who’s laughing in that situation?

If Shaw wasn't such a poorly run company, I would've been buying Shaw stonks.

Stonks with no voting rights and a senior management team with the goal of paying the family enough to have them all hit the top 10 list of highest paid people in the city.

    WCGW

What’s hilarious is that anyone invests in that company.

Big difference between buying a service from a company and investing in it. or working for it for that matter. Best companies I've ever worked for were terrible investments, and vice-versa.

So much truth in this. Once a company goes public, share price is all that matters - so invest in those 'hated' companies that treat customers and employees like dirt. Telus is a good example of this in the early 2000s.

Looks like my shaw 300 deal at $84 is coming up.. any deals out there to chase/bug them? I'll likely play the retention game but just checking

Shaw doesn’t have a retention game anymore.

When I canceled and left for Telus after being a customer for over 10 years they didn't even ask me why, let alone transfer me to a retentions department. I had my guard up for nothing haha. For whatever reason it seems they have decided that getting zero dollars is better than matching competitors deals to keep customers.

No retentions, and since there's no Telus Fibre in my hood, the best bang for buck felt like the Shaw 1g plan.

Shaw has really improved the offering with the better upload and the shaw mobile. Much more compelling value. And yeah, if you don't have telus glass to your house, then shaw for sure.

I got a call from Shaw with a 'new' Black friday offer.. Im currently MTM.
    -1Gig Fibre Internet
    -Total TV
    $170/month

I am currently on 300mbps, and an older TV package with more channels for $180.. so I wasnt sure about swapping and goping on contract.

Drop that to the 300 plan and you should save huge. There's no reason for a household to have a tv/internet bill over $150, and most should be closer to $110.

Im currently on the 300 plan and they said it actually cost more than the gig becuase of the special promotion. All Ive ever told them is that I want to reduce the monthly cost and they really cant come up with anything that does that.
