Default What email/Cloud do you use?

My email account is with (don't laugh) hotmail. Ive had this for god knows how many years, or even a couple of decades. Just ease of use. All my other accounts are intergrated, youtube, healthcare, banking, forums accounts etc

I use the One drive to backup some important photos, videos and some documents (I have a hardcopy of these on a big flash drive). I do like the ease of uploading and accessing the Cloud. Very handy in printing, and sending things.

Microsoft has brought some changes where the space of the cloud drive and email is combined to max of 5Gig. Im hitting that limit. Im thinking of moving to Gmail and migranting my stuff over. The limit there is 15G. Its a bit of a task...

What email accounts and Cloud storage do you guys use that is easy. Is Google/Gmail the better contender here that is free?

I also still have my 25yo hotmail acct, but it's mostly for junk emails (beyond notifications go there too LOL).
I have a Gmail that I give out to people professional stuff.

I also still have a hotmail account that I created back in high school days, good thing you can rename it to a new outlook address for free (both hotmail and outlook will still work for login)
    https://www.intowindows.com/rename-h...o-outlook-com/

but yeah professionally I use my gmail account, also have a yahoo just in case.

for cloud, I have office 365 family suite that I shared with my parents and sister, gives me a combined 4 TB of OneDrive storage.
also still using Amazon Prime for unlimited photo storage.

Half the sites you go to sign up for have options to just link an account with Facebook and google accounts being the main two. Gmail wins for that reason, less accounts and passwords to juggle.

Gmail for most personal use and then Outlook.com for more professional use, I managed to snag my first [email protected] when they switched to that as their main email offering so I use it quite a bit more than Gmail

OneDrive premium. 1Tb per user. Comes with my office 365 subscription which is I think $70 per year after my work discount? All my personal files automatically backed up and available on all devices. Super convenient.

Also pay 12.99/month for the 2TB iCloud sub. Covers me, wife, and my two elderly parents. This one annoys me because of the high cost, but it’s worth it for overall ease of use and avoiding tech support calls from my parents asking me what to do about error messages when the free 5gb runs out.

Edit: nm just saw you’re looking for a free option. Id still recommend OneDrive/office 365. If you work for a big company, chances are they have a home use program discount which lowers the cost. This is one of those things that is not worth cheaping out on imo

This. Whether you need 1 or more instances of the Office suite, the storage alone is worth the $.

I also use hotmail as my main account and saw this new bullshit. I had used up 4.9GB of 5GB of e-mail and the 9GB of 15GB space. I went into settings and deleted all emails inbox and sent 12 months or older and now I am down to using less than 1GB for mail and 2GB for the 15GB allotted. I hope I don't ever need any of my old emails, travel bookings, car deals and plethora of other stuff that was accumulating in there since I was 15 or something.

Yahoo. 1TB free teir with 49,000 unread messages. I have no idea how you 5 to 15GB live in storage poverty.

Yes, you do have to put up with advertisements on the right side if you use their webclient.

I have a nostalgic Hotmail account too, from 1998 or so. Never use it, emails from spammy places keep accumulating there.

I use gmail like most others here, iCloud mostly for backup/storage of family pics/slides/old 8mm converted videos/etc.

    I have a classic hotmail from 1996
    Gmail for gaming/personal use.
    Outlook for professional use.
I just snagged a new domain, so I'm trying to decide where the best place to host that is, so I can start using that email address. Not sure I want to pay for google domains.

Hover, siteground, google. I found, as an idiot, that the customer service at Siteground was incredible. Always helpful, fast, easy.
If you are doing collaboration with others in this organization, Google business is very good for documents etc.

It's not a burner, it's a relay, and only on that platform. If you need relay there's lots of platform-independent services.
