I just got off the phone with Shaw. The lady said that the best she could do was keep me on the Internet 600 plan for $100. I told her that was the same price as the 750mbps plan they offered and she shrugged haha.

She said she filled out a form to have someone from their "long term loyalty team" call me back in the next 24 hours.

So bizarre lol. Will see what they can do.
That is the same 1081 number mentioned here that will call you back. You might as well call them yourself instead. I was told that Thursday, no one called me back

That number definitely is worse than the old retentions team.

Really not impressed with how Shaw is handling this... no call back from yesterday... call back totday and now the best they can do is bump from 300-750 internet package for the same price.

If Telus internet wasnt such junk in my area Id be long gone. My contract is up tomorrow.. so I have to do something

I didn't get a callback either and after some deliberation, I'm down to switch to Telus for a couple years.

Placed the order online to have them install on August 8th.

Will call Shaw back and cancel my services.

Curious who or how you spoke to someone.

They are basically trying to push me to their new plans which will be more cost for less.

I am ok paying a bit more to keep my current plan, but I would need to go up by $25-30 to stay within the same speed area.
Sorry, just saw this post. If its helpful for anyone here, this plan and pricing came from their "Value Plan Renewals Team". They had to call me vs me contacting them, but they seemed like a new retentions department with more authority than the standard reps.

Does anyone know if Telus got some fibre down in the SW when 14th st was undergoing all those infrastructure upgrades? Would be curious how far out fibre is in my hood... it’s only been offer until calgary for what? 10+ years now? I tried their copper for about a week and had to switch back to shaw... unusable

The Shaw group called me and offered $85 for the next 2 years to keep my Internet 600 plan which is a fair deal.

I still went with Telus $99/month for 2 years. Wife's cell plan is with them so I connected the two for an additional $10/month discount.

Lookin' forward to the 940mbps haha.

I used to live in Braeside which is very close to that area and fiber was never available. Not sure if Pump Hill or the neighborhoods immediately beside it saw any benefit.

Also, that area is still somehow under construction - it was supposed to be done Fall 2019!

I'm pretty excited for that actually, especially in combination with the SW ring road completion. I'm hoping either it won't be too busy OR it will take a load off Deerfoot Meadows.

If the RR opens from 130th to glenmore soon that would be great too... rumours are that it might be this fall, hard to find concrete evidence though

Was stated a few weeks ago by either CTV or Global, and listed on the project website that Glenmore to Fish Creek was to be done fall 2020, but can't seem to find it now so maybe they retracted that target.

I find on the city's website they just stop updating things once they go past the expected end date. I haven't looked in a while, but well into 2020 they left "Fall 2019" as the completion date on all the 14th street work, which is somehow still happening. When I was living down that way, it was almost impressive how little work they seemed to be doing on it day-to-day haha. That whole SW corridor is such a nightmare getting downtown or to North Calgary, I hope the ring road opens it up a lot.

You've got to wonder, from a cost perspective, how renting equipment and paying crews by the hour for three years is cheaper than getting a big crew to work 24/7 for a week and just get it done like so many other countries have no trouble doing.

when I switched to telus in the fall I had shaw calling me back offering way better prices with 200 or 250 dollar bill credits depending on which plan I stuck with. If you switch be prepared for that call.

When I tried to upgrade using the online form to upgrade from Internet 15 in Lakeview they said nothing else was available, but when I phoned in they said Internet 50 was available for an extra $10/month, did the upgrade last week.

best thing for me with moving from Shaw to Telus was the upload speed. That is where I saw the biggest difference, uploading 2 x1.7gb files took 34-40 min before, now 2 x 2.7gb files takes only about 10 min to upload to sync.
