Goddamnit people, just take the $90/month Gigabit plan with Telus if it's in your area haha.

I seriously doubt anyone is not taking that deal if it's available. I think it's actually $80/month.This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote

I’ve mentioned this a million times. But I am far better off with the 15 a month in my jeans. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
I ever start maxing out my connection, different conversation. Maybe Xbox series X will allow gigabit downloads, which will be needed if I only have 1 TB to keep games on and I need to keep deleting shit. Hopefully they will let us cache games on USB3 for quick install.

Agree gigabit is 5x overkill for most households.

Looks like Lightspeed discounted their 75mbit plans. Only 40$ at the moment
So frustrating that Internet 15 is all Telus offers in my area.
Aren’t we neighbors? They’ve upgraded our area. We can get up to Internet 50 now! This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote

Anyone know how long it takes from the time they finish pulling the main fibre line into your community, to when you're able to schedule someone to install it? The construction partner (AFL? APL?) left last week, so I hoped it would be a quick turn around.
Some guy on /r/calgary says Shaw is upgrading the 300 600 and gig plans to 100 up. This weekend.
And the 600 plan to 750 down.
Hope it's true.
Co-worker updated me on it. Mine is updated. I'm uploading at 150mbps to start, and after the burst sustaining 104 for upload. Everyone gets it from 300 plan and up. For qualifying areas, so I'm guessing nodes that have zero subscribers on the older DOCSIS modems. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
Looks like Shaw is slowly uncorking upload speed. I'm bursting at 150 for about 10 seconds, so yea, lots of room to go. Can't complain haha.

They've done it before (the download increase), I wouldn't be surprised if they did it again. Especially since I think they are getting some backlash with claiming their Fiber+ is actually fiber (as most people compare it to Telus). This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Any improvement on the upload side would be very welcome!

I think the old upload was probably fine, but now with 100 up, it's really and truly fast enough for all but the most demanding situations. That's gong to make the shaw vs telus thing a lot closer of a comparison.

I'm predicting Shaw matches Telus's upload within 12 months, at which time Telus slows down their fiber rollout. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote

I wonder how that works for resellers since we have to buy our own modems. Do they force all them to upgrade? Or can they somehow split the node to have older modems on one group and new modems on the other? I'd assume there's more than one fiber line to a neighbourhood node. Though I think my TC4400 is rated for gig upload so should be compatible in the future. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
Is anybody getting the higher upload speeds on the older Hitron modems? I traded in my BlueCurve XB6 to save a few bucks a month.
Looks like it is Fibre+ plans only, so the 600 is the older fiber + 600 that turned into 750. If so booo but I will live without the upload for the plan I currently have. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
