Last address I pulled the "Im switching to telus" line on a shaw rep, who then called my bluff and said "looks like telus has no decent services at your address" (which was true)

I can eat more hot wings than you.
I threatened to downgrade my service and they checked and said my monthly usage would exceed it and I would end up throttled lolThis quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
Could threaten to switch to Lightspeed? No TV though which might make bargaining for a full package hard
Lightspeed is more expensive than Telus internet last I checked. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote

Last time Shaw wouldn't play nice at renewal I cancelled, shipped all my shit back and then opened a new account under my wife's maiden name. This was the recommendation of the retention guy I was dealing with who in his own words "was sick of the shit Shaw was making him say/do".
edit: this was ~2.5 years ago
I did the same with the Rogers name change. Went from month to month internet only 1g @ $110/month under my name to 2yr contract 1.5g @ $60/month with $400 bill credit under my wife's name.

Cellphoneman also says the same. If you are an existing customer they need to set up the account in your spouses name.

SWITCHING FROM TELUS FIBRE TO SHAW
We currently have TELUS internet and TV via the fibre they laid about 2 years ago. Term contract is over and prices have jumped, so we're thinking of going to Shaw (Rogers) Ignite internet and TV.
Will Shaw have to send a tech out to connect us, or can I just plug the Shaw box into the TELUS fibre? Or does Shaw use coax? Looking at installation instructions, it looks like they use coax from the demarc box to the modem/router. Any personal experiences you can share with me? Thanks in advance!
Shaw is fiber to the node not house.
Shaw will need to send a tech. But no biggie.

Just pay for Telus, call retention and get a better deal....switching to coax anything, then you have a dedicated fiber line...is lunacy. I have been a fiber customer for like 12 years with Telus, most reliable internet ever for me. Now on Starlink, but because I have no choice
Better yet cancel with a date a long way in the future so Telus will give you a decent deal again. Those fuck wads don't give deals unless you cancel.

I dunno, I have always got a deal out of them, maybe I just got lucky for 12 years I did have Optik TV as well though...so maybe that had something to do with it.This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
If you can go without for a couple weeks, just straight up cancel. You'll get a win back offer afterwards.

I just switch every 2 years. I'm back to Telus Oct 16th. You're gonna notice the drop with Shaw, but it's not that bad.
