I can't believe they would get rid of the savage beast and the greatest sport car ever produced (accord 6-6)

On the bright side, our 5MT Fit's have probably just doubled in value.

Pretty much. I was tracking the 2016 Fits onwards on Kijji and Auto trader. Prices on used ones went up.

I've been warning you guys about this for years.

Your days as car hobbyists are numbered. We're all going to be transported in electrified autonomous transportation pods relatively soon.

    Thanks TSLA!

The Civic Coupe and Accort 6MT don't surprise me, the writing was on the wall there, but I see a million Fits on the road - they still sell pretty well and it was overhauled for 2020 in other markets. I guess they want people to just buy the HR-V instead in NA.

I think the fit used to sell in massive numbers, but not the last few years.

I thought it would have been more popular in more denser cities like Toronto and Vancouver.
I still think it would be better with a smaller engine and perhaps a turbo.

Fit sales figures have been pretty well unchanged since 2018 at around 35,000 units in the USA and are roughly on track to do about the same in 2020 after ~6 months, maybe slightly less with COVID. In March of this year, they sold well over twice as many as they did in March 2019, then it tapers off presumably due to COVID. Seems like enough to keep a model around but obviously Honda thinks differently haha. The HR-V costs a lot more than a Fit and probably doesn't cost much more for Honda to make, so they are probably trying to push Fit buyers in that direction. That's my guess anyway.

They sell about the same number of Passports as they do Fits and even fewer Ridgelines.

That is true of most economy cars But yeah, the 1.5T in a Fit "sport" or "Si" or something would draw a lot of buyers I would think. There is no other economy car out there that is as practical or spacious that I'm aware of.

Have a 2012 Fit Sport (hauls ass like a super car) and when we upgrade its straight to an HRV with AWD for winter driving. Wouldn't even consider another small FWD car for winter.

The problem is the obsession with SUVs. The writing was on the wall when even Europe is buying them in droves. Ford stopped making cars for a reason. Car buyers are the exception now. HRV outsells Fit 4:1 or something stupid and the gap keeps widening. Once car buyers accept the reality, they'll either go high end cars (only ones left) if they can afford it, or just drink the SUV koolaid and get an compact SUV for about the same price and realize holy shit I can do so much more with this thing. I'm going to start camping. And biking! Mountain bike sales skyrocket, buy bicycle stocks now.

Only problem with this logic is I can fit way more cargo in my Fit than I can an HRV.

But I agree with the SUV Koolaid

Need to switch your hobbies to bicycles and overly hopped craft beers, maybe sprinkle in some artisanal weed.

Everything else fun is going to be illegal within 10-15 years.

Isn't there mandates on fuel economy that brands have to achieve? I would've thought they'd need to pad their lineup with fuel efficient cars to hit those targets. I know new SUVs are getting better but most are still behind cars for fuel economy.

The Fit has a better power to weight ratio too.
I test drove the HRV Manual and it had no oomph in 2nd gear. The CRV gets better fuel mileage than the HRV.

Rage made a interesting perspective on the SUV coolaide. I wonder peoples finances or mismanagement of it plays a part in this.

Ive been going hiking a lot recently and we always take my girlfriends 1.8 Versa. Then my 2.4L Zonda. I also see lots of others with FITS with bike racks on the highway.

To give a perspective. My sister in the UK had a 1.0L Nissan Micra that lasted just under 18 years. She only had to get rid of it because of severe rust. She went up to a Range Rover Evoke(manual, hubby works for Jaguar). Then when the lease was up. She downsized and and bought a VW UP. That has a 1.L engine. She does not bike, but almost every weekend she is taking the kids to the country and different old towns. Its cheap on gas and fine on the highway if your not going anywhere in a hurry. To add, her mortgage is paid off.

I was considering downsizing to the FIT (2015 onwards. 6th gear)after my Zonda CRV. Now that might be out of the window. The next contender was the Cross Trek manual (2018 onwards, 6th gear). But the 2.0 is a bit under powered for that. The new 2.5L wont come in a manual. Im kinda buggered on what to get next.

I thought the game with CAFE is SUV considered as light truck and buys you another 10mpg vs cars.

Plus Trump ease the ramp up of CAFE standard, to what degree I don't recall.

If anything EU's emission/noise law will steer the industry by changing what OEM offers.

Irrelevant if people don’t buy enough of them to average down your ratings.

HRV is a terrible vehicle and it outselling fit by 4:1 is pretty telling.
