For anyone wondering, it's common practice to try and conceal your identity during the mandatory media appearance when you win a lottery for security/privacy reasons.

I thought that only flies in US. None of the big ones in Canada. I heard only one exception was some Iraqi worrying about relative's security at home country.

BTW, Lotto Max is $55M tonight.

Since gangs run whole swaths of Jamaica I wouldn't want anyone to know my identity if I won there either. Hell in our interconnected world announcing lottery winners seems like a horrible security risk, every dodgy cunt you've ever associated and plenty more you never met are going to come out of the woodwork and try to run grifts on you.

At $100USD/sqft for high end houses, that's a 3000sqft home and a couple of nice cars in Kingston.

It would certainly be wise to consult a prominent legal firm before claiming any prize larger than $1M. I couldn't imagine the number of people that would emerge with hands held out.

Many years ago I awoke one morning and opened up my Questrade app. It said my portfolio was +$1MM from last closing. I took a screenshot, posted it to FB, and simply said "Good day on the markets". Within hours I had dozens of messages from people, some asking for stock advice, others asking to "get together and catch up". And that was just to my then friends list of maybe a few hundred people.

I couldn't even imagine the blow back from a national news story with your name, face, city, and winnings being posted. Luckily you could afford to disappear?
I can eat more hot wings than you.
