I mean, the Ottawa team will get bailed out. And likely Toronto. And the upside is, in a 2 team league Toronto will get a championship in something again eventually. Really it's a win/win for the nation.

Apparently, elks is a plural of elk, but so is elk, which is used most often. Overall, it's just a terrible name.

This. From what I've heard, Elk applies to, I think, 2 or less. Elks is 3 or more.

Either way, it's not like it's much different than Milwaukee Bucks, so I don't understand the criticism that it's a bad name.

I agree it sounds awkward. The timing of the announcement failed to fully capitalize on their virtue signaling intentions when they could've easily gone with the Edmonton Residential School Apologists.

Since that's ERSA, they could've leveraged ERSA Minor and ERSA Major for other levels of football after they received a ringing endorsement from Heir Justin.
