The cancel culture is not ending before it gets worse. We all thought the black and orange day, happy holidays things are jokes.
No one says we should promote being a dick but there is no way we can live our lives without getting offended or offending someone. You can either find things to like or find things to hate about each other, or anywhere in between.

I don't believe for a second that the majority or even a significant minority of Inuit people are offended by the Eskimo name as it relates to a football franchise. I believe that a vocal fringe minority will point to anything they can to stir shit. The offensive part to this is that virtue signalling is bleeding into corporate decision (sponsors, not the team) and they are using a situation like this to put themselves out there as being the heros that are fighting for the marginalized groups. Belair Direct threatened to pull their sponsorship of the CFL if the Eskimos didn't change their name. If that isn't corporate blackmail then I don't know what is.

If the Edmonton Eskimos had made this decision on there own at any point other than when we're at a heightened stage of social sensitivity that would be one thing but throwing away 125 years of tradition because of a marketing initiative of a sponsor is shameful.

If you can't be bothered to read what you're replying to, don't go spouting off about someone else needing their eyes checked. Thanks for your anecdotal links about 2 peoples opinions, I can post the exact same thing of Inuit on the other side of the argument that don't want the name changed. The team(the ones with a financial investment that need to make the right decision about this) actually did the due diligence of researching this and didn't find an issue. In the end they decided to buckle to sponsor demands, demands which were based off of some white people trying to racesplain to minorities why they should be offended.

This is exactly what it is. Belair Direct, Fisherman's Friend, Jiffy Lube and others are all trying to court the woke dollar and using every possible avenue to do so. They'll all turn around and tell all their potential customers the good they did in forcing the evil racist football team to change a name that no one cared about.

I am certainly no expert on the norther communities (more out of lack of interest frankly). But aren't there still substantial, non-Canadian communities that are still called Eskimos, even by themselves?
